“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” - Exodus 14:14

Picture the Israelites—backed up against the Red Sea, Pharaoh’s army closing in. Fear had to be crushing. Yet through Moses, God gave them this steady promise: I will fight this battle. Your job is simply to be still and trust Me.

Whatever you’re facing this week—anxiety, conflict, uncertainty—hold onto that same promise. The God who split the waters is still fighting for His people today!

You don’t have to push harder in your own strength.

Be still. Rest in Him. He is able.

May His peace guard your hearts this week!!

Our sympathy and prayers to the family of John Bartel, who went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 20, 2026 at his Columbia residence surrounded by his loved ones. John is survived by his wife, Nancy Bartel; his son Richard and wife Sarah of Ashland, MO; his sister, Joann Morton, of St Louis, MO; his grandson Jeffrey and wife Christina Elsenraat, of Republic, MO; and granddaughter Jennifer and husband Tony Herzog, of Bloomsdale, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert & Flora Bartel, his brother, Jay Bartel, and his daughter, Catherine Elsenraat. We have missed John and Nancy at St. Paul UCC since their move to Columbia.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Andy Wilson officiating.

A private family burial will be at St. Marcus Cemetery near Rhineland. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Paul UCC, or the cemetery.

Tomorrow is Rally Day!

Join us tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM for outdoor worship at the Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheater.

Bring your backpacks for a special blessing, and stay afterward for Food, Fun & Fellowship!

We’ll also bless our Sunday School and confirmands as we start this new season together.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.” – Lamentations 3:22-23

See you in the morning — everyone is welcome!

Don't forget, if the weather isn't good for our event, don't panic! We will move our festivities to our church and keep the fun going!!!

☀️ One week until Rally Day!

We’re gathering outdoors on Sunday, August 23rd at 9:00 AM at the Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheater for a special worship service. Afterward, enjoy Food, Fun & Fellowship as we celebrate new beginnings together.

There will be blessings for backpacks, Sunday School, and confirmands — a beautiful way to kick off the new year.

Rally Day is weather-dependent; if the weather isn't suitable for our event, we will move Rally Day festivities to our church and continue the fun indoors!
