REGIONAL THREAT REPORT (not case-related)
🟠 DANGER LEVEL: 7/10 — HIGH

Operation Soteria Shield — the FBI-led operation that ran in April 2025 across north Texas — explicitly named agencies stretching from Dallas to Amarillo as part of a coordinated sweep that rescued 109 children and arrested 244 suspected offenders in a single month. Investigators documented that online predators were using social platforms and gaming networks to recruit minors in this region, targeting kids Nevaeh's age through channels she likely uses every day. That operation covered Amarillo's corridor. The Amarillo Police Department's own Specialized Operations Division and Special Victims Unit have run separate local undercover missions — most recently a two-day operation that produced 13 arrests on trafficking and exploitation charges. A community partner working directly with the FBI cited local cases as "hidden in plain sight" in the Amarillo area as recently as January 2025. Texas consistently ranks among the top three states nationally in documented trafficking activity, and the FBI's north Texas sweep confirmed Amarillo is inside that threat zone — not adjacent to it.
