Tonight’s Devotion:
A Call to Wake Up Spiritually
Scripture: Revelation 3:2
“Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die…”
Tonight, I want to encourage both the men and women that God is calling His people to wake up spiritually. One of the greatest dangers in our walk with Christ is not outright rebellion, it’s complacency. It’s becoming comfortable. It’s settling for routine Christianity while losing our hunger for the presence of God.
The enemy doesn’t always try to destroy us overnight. Sometimes he simply lulls us to sleep. We begin making excuses:
“I’m too busy to pray.”
“I’ll read my Bible tomorrow.”
“I’ve been a Christian a long time; I know enough.”
“Someone else will do the work.”
But God is not looking for excuses. He is looking for hearts that are hungry for Him.
Throughout Scripture, every person who experienced a supernatural encounter with God was hungry. Moses sought God on the mountain. Jacob wrestled with God through the night. The woman with the issue of blood pressed through the crowd. Blind Bartimaeus refused to be silenced. They were desperate for Jesus.
The question tonight is: Are we still desperate for Him?
Many believers are satisfied with knowing about Jesus, but God wants us to know Him personally and intimately. We don’t need another religious routine, we need a fresh encounter with the living Christ. We need His power, His presence, His voice, and His direction.
God is still healing.
God is still delivering.
God is still speaking.
God is still transforming lives.
But we must position ourselves to receive from Him.
The Bible says in James 4:8, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” Notice that God responds when we move toward Him. He is inviting us to come closer.
Tonight, let us lay down every excuse, every distraction, every area of spiritual laziness, and ask God to reignite our passion. Let us become people who pursue Him with all our hearts.
Here’s a Challenge: Don’t leave tonight satisfied with where you are spiritually. Ask God for more. Ask Him to stir your heart again. Ask Him for a fresh fire and a supernatural encounter with Jesus.
Heavenly Father, forgive us for the times we have become complacent, distracted, and spiritually lazy. Forgive us for making excuses instead of making time for You. Stir our hearts again, Lord. Awaken a fresh hunger and thirst for Your presence. Remove anything that stands between us and You. We desire more than religion, we desire a genuine encounter with Jesus. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, renew our passion, strengthen our faith, and draw us closer to You. Let revival begin in our hearts tonight. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
