From our Study this Week the Memory Text: Genesis 2:7. "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living soul."
To be a soul we need BOTH the body and the breath of life from God. When we die our breath goes back to God and our body returns to dust. There is no longer a soul until Jesus comes.

Found and reviewed this week: "After the descent of the Holy Spirit, . . . [Believers] rejoiced in the sweetness of communion with the saints. They were tender, thoughtful, self-denying, willing to make sacrifice for truth's sake. In their daily association with one another, they revealed that love that Christ had enjoined upon them. By unselfish words and deeds they strove to kindle this love in other hearts. . . .
"But gradually a change came. The believers began to look for defects in others. Dwelling upon mistakes, giving place to unkind criticism, they lost sight of the Saviour and His love. They became more strict in regard to outwad ceremonies, more particular about the theory than the practice of faith. . . . They lost the brotherly love that Christ had enjoined, and saddest of all they were unconscious of their loss. They did not realize that happiness and joy were going out of their lives and that having shut the love of God out of their hearts, they would soon walk in darkness." Ellen G. White, The Acts of the Apostles, pp547. 548.

One of the most earnest prayers recorded in the Word of God is that of David when he pleaded, "Create in me a clean heart, O God." (Psalm 51:10). God's response to such a prayer is "A new heart will I give you." This is a work that no finite man can do. Men and women are to begin at the beginning seek God most earnestly for a true Christian experience. God will take the cold stoney heart away to give us a soft heart of flesh.

David wrote encouragement for all times:
Ps 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”
Ps 16:1-2,5,8 “Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.'” “Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.” “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

What can we do with our fears when we face a crisis? After reading many newsfeed articles that drain us; these Psalms can counteract fear, stress, and fill us up.
Ps 3:5-6 “I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.”
Ps 6:2-4 “Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long? Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.”
Ps 9:18 “But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.”

"I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved." Psalm 16:8 (KJV). "We may utter words that reach the throne of the Monarch of the universe. We may speak with Jesus as we walk by the way, and He says, I am at thy right hand." Gospel Workers, p 258.

When God called Moses:
"Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak." Ex 4:12
"God blessed his ready obedience, and he became eloquent, hopeful, self-possessed, and well fitted for the greatest work even given to man. This is an example of what God does to strengthen the character of those who trust Him fully, and give themselves unreservedly to His commands." Patriarchs and Prophets, p.255

"The enemy of Christ, who rebelled against God's law in heaven, has, as a skilled trained general, worked with all his power, bringing out one device after another, full of deception, to make of none effect the law of God, the only true detector of sin, the standard of righteousness." E.G.White, "A Peculiar People," Review and Herald, November 18, 1890

Reading in the Word reveals our Heavenly Father. "The Word of God reveals His character. He Himself has declared His infinite love and pity. When Moses prayed, ‘Show me Thy glory,’ the Lord answered, ‘I will make all My goodness pass before Thee.’ (Exodus 33:18, 19). This is His glory, The Lord passed before Moses, and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, The Lord God merciful and gracious, long suffering in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin.’ (Exodus 34:6 ,7). He is slow to anger, and of great kindness,’ ‘because He delighteth in mercy.” (Jonah 4:2, Micah 7:18).STC, pg. 10
