Henryetta First Christian Church

Henryetta First Christian Church God's Word and His son our Savior lead us. The Lord's Supper is observed weekly and on special occasions.
(10)

In faithful response to the will and purposes of God, as revealed through Jesus Christ and God's continuing revelation of the Holy Scriptures, our belief is that we are Christians only, not the only Christians, where we seek unity among people of all denominations and freedom from doctrinal creeds: "No creed but Christ". Membership is based on a simple affirmation of faith: "I believe that Jesus

is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and I accept him as my Lord and Savior." Baptism is by immersion, but those who have been previously immersed in other churches need only present a letter of transfer of membership. The communion service is part of the regular worship, and all who are present are welcome to participate. The church believes that all Christians are free to interpret Scripture according to their own conscience, and that all who seriously study the Bible will find their faith deepened and their understanding of the Christian life enriched. Because of our ecumenical stance, peope from many diverse backgrounds find our worship service both comfortable and meaningful. A well-balanced variety of programs is offered for all ages. Our pastor is always available for counseling, weddings, funerals, and hospital visitation. He would be happy to visit with you further about our church. We extend to you an invitation to worship with us and become acquainted with our members. You and your family may find that Henryetta FCC is just the church you have been looking for.

The only perfect being who ever lived deliberately died for you. For me. For every single one of us. The only sinless human took on the punishment of your sins. My sins. Everyone's sins. What greater love can there be? And what can we do to try to repay such a massive debt?

God will not place harm in the path of the righteous -- those who revere and follow Him. He may need to bring discipline, taking us down a peg or rwo, but harm? Never! He wants His children to shine!!

There is a reason why "the Lord willin' and the creek don't rise" to have survived. Never think you can be beyond His reach to teach or to save. And remember always to give Him thanks in every circumstance, especially since He wants only good for you.

This explains why many won't trust Christians. Someone has claimed kinship to Jesus and yet didn't show it. We must always keep in mind that for unbelievers to come to faith, they must first see Christ -- in us.

It seems the more we get, the more we want. Storage units are full to bursting, and new ones go up all the time. How much of that is truly needed, and how much more of our resources could we share if we weren't bothered with having so much extra?

SIMPLE SHELTER

Isaiah 66:1-2 -- This is what the Lord says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place? Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord. “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word."

Our Father has never needed any grand gestures or overwhelming pageantry. All He has ever asked is a heart that loves, honors, and obeys Him. All else has been conceived and contrived by the world. Ornate costumes, decorations, and surroundings may impress man, but they are possible only from God. Jesus taught on hillsides, by wells, and aboard tiny fishing vessels, but we think we need more. If Jesus and His faith in the small group that has since grown into billions was sufficient, who are we to think we need to add more than simple shelter from the elements?

Remember the , "No Jesus, no peace; know Jesus, know peace" phrase? It fits perfectly with this bit from Psalms.

We don't have to be perfect and sinless for Him to be there, but we do have to bend the knee and the will.

When we allow our sinful self to die, we become one with Christ. That's a great deal of responsibility, steering clear of our old ways, but everything is possible and also probable with Paul's kind of faith. Let Christ lead and put to death the sinful, "me first" self.

We can never earn redemption. But praise God that Jesus' sacrifice literally cleansed us from all sin. The gift that keeps on giving eternally, however, must be accepted. Have you received yours?
