This Memorial Day, we hope that you will take time to remember those who died in service to our country and pray for the living. The service is 15 minutes long and is presented by members of our Diocese Worship Team, the choir of St. Paul’s, and our clergy who are also veterans.

In peace,
Bishop Kara and your Diocesan staff

The Finger Lakes Rapid Response Network and several of their sibling groups would like everyone to show solidarity with Dolores Bustamante as she fights her detention and for her freedom. They invite you to join them for a press conference and rally at 9 AM on May 26 in Rochester.

The hope is that enough people will attend to show solidarity and support, and if the courtroom reaches capacity, a groundswell of supporters outside will have just as powerful an impact. If you have any clarifying questions, email: [email protected].

Dolores is a farmworker, mother, grandmother, and leader who has been detained by ICE since April 22. On May 26, Western District Federal Court Judge V***a will hear evidence from Dolores' lawyers to demonstrate that she was unlawfully detained and that non-citizens like Dolores cannot be ripped away with no notice or opportunity to respond.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 26th: 9 AM gather, 9:30 press conference, 11 AM: Hearing (expected to take place through the end of the day).

WHERE: United States District Court for the Western District of NY, Federal Building, 100 State Street, Rochester, NY 14614

Please note: Pack the courtroom—and not everyone will be able to enter due to capacity limitations—but the hope is that Dolores's friends and family can attend the hearing. They ask that participants support their efforts to help reach these goals.

If you are unable to attend, there are many ways to SUPPORT DOLORES:
Spread the word! Forward this email far and wide, share the invitation on your social media accounts, distribute the flyer (in comments), and invite friends, family, and allies to attend.
