Only one person showed up for Bible study that day.

But one person matters.

As the gospel was shared and the invitation to follow Christ was given by Chaplain Bill, Rick responded by placing his faith in Jesus.

The gospel changes everything!

"Hey Chaplain, could you share a Bible verse with me?"

This request was called out as a chaplain walked down the jail hallway.

Isaiah 41:10 came to mind: "Do not fear, for I am with you..."

The inmate paused and shared that his mother had recently told him to read that exact chapter.

Coincidence?

We don't think so. Because when the Gospel is proclaimed behind bars, God is always at work.

He asked for prayer for "a better life."

What followed was a conversation about God's grace, forgiveness, and the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Standing behind iron bars, Derek made the decision to place his trust in Christ.

Because chaplains are present behind bars, ordinary conversations and a walk down the jail hallway become eternal moments.

We can't always name it. We only know we haven't found it. We want to be loved. We know we don't deserve it. We know what we've done. We wish we weren't known for our worst moments.

But love comes looking anyway — arms wide open, no conditions.

Ministry begins in the prisons of Guatemala!

Because of the faithful investment of thousands of partners and several years of prayerful groundwork, Good News Global is officially launching its ministry in Guatemala.

Your support has helped build strong relationships with more than ten churches and ministries already serving within Guatemala’s prison system. These partnerships have opened doors into seven correctional facilities—an important beginning in a nation with approximately twenty-seven prisons.

Most significantly, after careful evaluation and planning, Pastor William Sandoval has been appointed as National Coordinator for Good News Guatemala. With years of experience in prison ministry and deep local connections, he is now preparing to launch the official ministry.

What began as a vision and preparation is becoming a Gospel presence on the ground—creating new opportunities to bring hope, discipleship, and the message of Jesus behind bars in Guatemala.

God is opening doors in new nations, new prisons, and new regions. But we cannot step through those doors without partners who will go with us.

Help us carry the gospel into places where hope feels impossible. So that no man or woman wakes up tomorrow behind bars believing they are forgotten by God.

A chaplain met him during routine rounds. As they talked, it became clear that Frank was searching for God.

So the chaplain opened Scripture and shared the Gospel.

Frank understood. Nothing held him back.

Right there—through the iron bars—he gave his life to Jesus.

Sending chaplains behind bars!

Around the world, incarceration does more than deprive people of physical freedom. It strips away identity—who a person is—and crushes hope—why they should keep going or change their ways?

What is the purpose of their life? Shame becomes the loudest voice. Despair becomes the everyday reality. The future is bleak, stripped of hope and purpose.

But into the darkness, the Gospel speaks to those who are open and listening, offering freedom, identity, and hope.
