The Calm Before the Storm Conference begins next Thursday. There is still time to register and join us for an event that will equip and prepare for Disaster Response.

Just this morning, a request came for 660 towels to supply a warming shelter that opened tonight in expectation of the Snow Bomb Cyclone that will impact the Carolinas this weekend.

I give thanks to God that Kathleen (Jordan Lutheran) answered the call for help and in the Calm before the Storm delivered more than 500 towels to the shelter.

Praying that God protects all those who will be in the midst of the storm.

Snow Storm Fern...Snow-crete, and now
Snow Bomb Cyclone. In this Calm Before the Next Storm, additional warming shelters in North Carolina are preparing to open Friday evening. At 4 am on Thursday, a call requesting 400 pillows for a new shelter in Hillsborough NC was received. Within an hour Hope, Wake Forest answered the call, had identified 300 of those pillows and was making arrangements to get them to the shelter location. Thank you Wesley for your leadership with this. Thank you Hope Lutheran for rallying, gathering pillow cases and pillows.

Snowstorm Fran is expected to dump measurable snow throughout the Southeastern District this weekend. Some simple things to remember:
1. Check on your neighbors - especially the housebound.
2. Ready your home, check on fuel supplies, outside pipes and faucets.
3. Prepare for a power outage - check those flashlights and batteries.
4. Make certain you have food and other essential supplies.
5. Be certain there is gas in your vehicle.
6. Stay inside and keep warm.

God has blessed and multiplied the opportunities for serving. Since September 2024, through LCMS LERT: 48 deployments , 816 volunteers, 1,355 trees, 522 homes, 3,000 plus flood buckets, 20,000 + personal hygiene kits.

These are just the beginning of the gifts we received through the people of the Southeastern District and throughout the LCMS. We are thankful to God for you and to you for your partnership in compassion and mercy ministry.

Trinity Lutheran, Tryon NC returns to repaired, rebuilt, and renewed worship space on Sunday, December 21, 2025 since it was shuttered due to Hurricane Helene. We praise and thank God for the many hands that contributed to the restoration of this church. One of the more striking images of the hurricane aftermath was Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus who survived the flooding in the undercroft area.

This Nativity was made from downed tree from Hurricane Helene at Linn Haven. Even in disaster, we can find a sign of hope. Thank you to all the volunteers who became the gift of Hope to so many in Western North Carolina.
