Exodus 3:1-15
“Stay Curious”
It is hard to believe that today is the last day of August! I am grateful for the cooler forecast for this week! We enjoyed another good day of worship yesterday!
On the front end of this week, I wanted to remind you about the special offering we are collecting for Sarah Light. Sarah is a Henly neighbor for whom Hometown Missions has planned a major renovation of her residence. In our last Business Meeting, we voted to set aside some money to go toward the project. We also planned to take up an offering for additional assistance. The renovation of Sarah's living space will include the installation of a kitchen, a 1/2 bath, new wiring, new insulation, a new HVAC system, and a complete surface renewal. Hometown Missions has appliance and materials donations that keep the costs down. Still, the total project budget is $16,000. If you want to assist with this, you can make your contribution to the church and note Hometown Missions on the Memo. Thank you! We will collect these funds through Sunday, October 13th.
Yesterday morning, we focused our attention on the call vision of Moses. God solicited the attention of the shepherd with a burning bush that would not burn up. When Moses turned aside from his task to see this strange sight, God spoke to him and called him to mission. What an incredible truth is declared in that familiar story: The God of Creation will wave us down to speak with us!
If the above is true, and the text would suggest that it is, we can find ourselves in Sacred Spaces amid everyday life, moments consecrated by the cathedral of Divine presence. The text suggests that we should Stay Curious! We never know when God might be vying for our attention.
