■ Pastor Chuck’s sermon dips into all three of the day’s Scripture readings. Romans sheds light on our walk with Jesus. The Psalm points to how God hears us. Matthew speaks of God’s unending relationship with us. The Gospel of Christ can sometimes upset people but it can never be spread through strength, power, or violence. Worship also includes hymns, prayer, and Holy Communion.

June 7, 2026 Worship Service – 2nd Sunday After Pentecost
PART 2
■ Pastor Chuck’s sermon builds upon the Gospel account of Matthew, the tax collector who served the Romans and extorted money from his fellow Jews. This, plus Jesus breaking bread with other sinners, illustrates his radical call to those who are unworthy. Similarly, Jesus does not wait until we are better Christians to call us; instead, he calls us as we are. Worship concludes with Barb & Rusty Nelson reporting on the the Southwest Minnesota ELCA Synod’s recent Assembly in St. Peter.

Dennis Christianson, age 85, of Hendricks, MN passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at his daughter’s home in Big Lake, MN. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25th at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 11am to 1pm. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel of Hendricks, MN has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Avera Cancer Research, Hendricks Foundation, Hendricks Golf Club, Pancreatic Cancer Research, or St. Croix Hospice.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis Paul Christianson, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend. Born September 16, 1940, Dennis spent his life spreading joy and kindness to everyone he met.

Dennis was a beacon of warmth with a heart of gold, always offering a listening ear and a supportive shoulder. His generosity showed in the way he gave freely of his time, help, and encouragement, and his love for his family was constant and unwavering. His love for golf was surpassed only by his love for his family, to whom he devoted himself with the same passion and commitment.

He taught his daughters and grandchildren that whatever you do in life, give it everything you’ve got, and above all, do what makes you happy.

Dennis attended Mankato State, where he earned a B.S.B. He owned a Ben Franklin in Hendricks for many years before becoming an insurance agent and took great pride in serving his country. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1962 to 1964, then continued his service in the Army Reserves from 1964 to 1968. Above all, Dennis loved cheering on his three grandchildren at their hockey games, making multiple trips to Minneapolis often several times a month to watch them play.
Survived by his wife: Bonnie Christianson (married 61 years) She is his one true love and a true testament to a marriage made in heaven. Together, Dennis and Bonnie built a life grounded in faith, family, and steady devotion. They shared special moments every day, supporting one another through every season, and finding joy in the simple things. They especially loved ballroom dancing and taking golf trips with their many friends, making memories wherever they went. Their partnership was marked by loyalty, laughter, and deep respect, and the love they shared was felt by everyone around them.

Daughters: Carmen Stack (Andrew) and Lynn Widmark (Aaron) Dennis was a steady presence in Carmen and Lynn’s lives, their biggest supporter, trusted advisor, and a constant source of encouragement. He was proud of the women they became, and loved time spent together, whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply being there with a quiet, reassuring kind of love.

Grandchildren: McKenna Wilson, Nash Wilson, and Aidan Widmark.

He was preceded in death by his parents father Percy Christianson and mother Artis Christianson; brother, Steve Christianson and sister, Ann Christianson.

Rest in peace, Daddy. Your spirit and love will live on. And remember, it’s not the score that counts, but what you learn along the way.

The family extends heartfelt thanks for your prayers, support, and kindness during this time. May Dennis’s memory be a blessing, and may we honor him by sharing the same warmth, generosity, and love he gave so freely.
