This morning, EPD officers shot two skunks in South Elkins that were observed to be disoriented, seizing, and in distress.

Please exercise caution, monitor your surroundings when out walking, and check the area before letting dogs out into the yard.

If you see an animal that appears to be ill, report it to 911.

Correction: an earlier version of this post incorrectly stated that DNR had reported an uptick in rabies and distemper cases locally. The agency has not made any such announcement. We regret the error.
