The mission of the Hendersonville church is to love God supremely, to serve others unselfishly, to know Christ intimately, and honor His Word faithfully as we make Him known in a spirit of unity. And we try to be, yet we know that our conclusions aren’t flawless, and that our practices are sometimes colored by habit, preference, tradition, or convenience. But we seek to honor God with all we do. W
e’re a diverse group, coming from varied backgrounds, and at different stages of knowledge and spiritual growth. We are all on a spiritual journey. No matter who you are, what you've done, you are welcome here. If you visit on a Sunday:
One of the most distinctive things about churches of Christ is that the music is "a ca****la." That is, we sing without the accompaniment of musical instruments. The song lyrics and music will be projected on the screen for convenience. There will be several prayers during the service led by members. We will also read scripture, directly from the Bible. Churches of Christ observe the Lord's Supper every Sunday. There are individual bread/juice cups for you to pick up in the lobby. During this memorial, someone will speak briefly about Christ's death, burial, and resurrection and lead prayers for the bread and juice. If you choose not to participate, just pass the plate or tray to the person next to you. Also, a basket is on the table in the lobby to collect the weekly financial offering. As our guest, you are *not* expected to make a donation. Children 4yo-2nd grade are invited to participate in Children's Church. After the Lord's Supper, they will be dismissed to the back of the auditorium to meet volunteers. Parents may also walk them to the Children's Church room. They enjoy a lesson, singing, and a puppet show reinforcing the day's lesson. Nursery for ages 0-3yo is also available after Lord's Supper. Volunteers will be in the back of the auditorium during the Children's Church dismissal time, or parents may bring them at any time after that. Nursery is supervised play and does not include a lesson. The sermon will likely be about 30 minutes in length. Our minister, Ethan Brown, is a passionate speaker, and is well-trained in Biblical and spiritual study. We think you will find the message Bible-centered, and full of encouragement to lead a life in tune with God. At the close of the sermon, the minister will "extend an invitation." This is simply an expedient time to invite those who are moved to do so to make a commitment or request prayer support. We conclude our service with announcements about up-coming events and activities. Please make sure you linger in the lobby to let us greet you, and get to know you better.
