These shawls have been given to people in the church and also to various parts of the United States. Right now they are in the process of making approximately 250 scarves to be sent to the Russian orphanage that First Baptist sponsors. In 2008, over 100 quilts were made by many women in the church and community who came together once a month on Saturday morning. Recently, they began meeting every Thursday evening at 6:30pm as well. They learn new techniques in quilting and enjoy great fellowship together. This past year quilts were made for the children of Broyhill Baptist Children's Home, the Pregnancy Center and the Storehouse. Twenty quilts were delivered to Mexico and this years project is to provide 135 quilts to the Kirov #1 Russian Orphanage. Many people all over the world are blessed by this ministry. 🙏Praying our Way Through🙏
the Election

We are just a few shorts weeks, even days away from another Presidential election. You would have to be living under a rock to not be aware of the tension, hatred and, vitriol that surrounds us right now. It is coming from both sides, right and left; Christians and non Christians. I don’t know about you ladies, but I am weary from it all. I am ready for it to be over, but then I find myself asking, “Then what?” “What is November 4th going to look like?” “What is 2021 going to look like?” Honestly, this immediately provokes fear and apprehension in my heart.

So, I find myself asking, “Lord, what do you want me to do?” “How am I supposed to endure this?”

The most important stance we need is the one that brings us to our knees. We must PRAY!

*Pray for the Lord to guide you as you fill out this years’ ballot. Seek His Will as we make this important decision for our county, state, and country. Let God, not the news and pundits, direct your vote.
*Pray for those in leadership and potential leadership, even if they are from the “enemy” party.
Paul writes in 1 Timothy that we are to pray for ALL those in authority. He didn’t say, ”Ok, democrats, pray over here for your candidate and republicans, y’all are over here in this area..pray for your candidate.” Nope..we, as Christians, are to pray for ALL those in authority. How much better would our country be if we took this first step?
We are so blessed that many of our leaders are Christians. So, lets commit to pray that they seek the Lord first, asking the Lord to guide their decisions
and actions.
Unfortunately, our government is also led by some that aren’t believers, some that are radically opposed to the Bible. We must be on our knees for these leaders, for their hearts to be softened to the ways of the Lord. Their salvation should be important to us. Pray for eyes that we see these
candidates as children of the Almighty God. They need our prayers. The election process, not to mention, the place of leadership is grueling and without prayers holding these leaders up, they are destined to fall.

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 1 Timothy 2:1-3
*Pray for the outcome of this election.
We need to be seeking God’s plan and will for this country. God and God alone appoints rulers, leaders, and presidents. He alone can also remove these exact same leaders. Remember ladies, God is in control. No matter who wins and loses, God is still on His Throne.
So, when you wake up on November 4, fear creeping in when you turn on the news, remember that God’s got this. He will never leave or forsake us. Not one thing about this crazy year had taken our Lord in Heaven by surprise.
What a comforting thought!!
“and you have been filled by him, who is the head over every ruler and authority “Colossians 2:10
“For everything was created by him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions, or rulers, or authorities —all things have been created through him and for him.” Colossians 1:16-17

Praying takes the worry and anxiety of the outcome off of our shoulders and places in our Father’s hands.
I saw this on Facebook recently and it really sums up what the position of our heart should be as this election draws near.
America’s only hope...
Not in the donkey
Not in the elephant
but in the LAMB

May you and your family be blessed.

In Christ,
Adara Rapp

Flourish: A mentoring opportunity for women of all ages!

Join us for The Gathering on October 17, 2020 from 10AM -12PM in room C-304.

Christ-centered connection for women ✝️

09/23/2020

I’m excited to tell you about a new ministry to women at First Baptist HVL. On Saturday, Sept 26 in room C304 from 10am-12pm we will launch the Women’s Mentoring Ministry known as Flourish.

According to Titus 2 older women are to come alongside of the younger women and encourage them in their walk with the Lord and to have Godly relationships. We are calling women of all ages and in all stages of life to prayerfully consider being a Titus 2 woman.

On Saturday we will talk about what the mentor/mentee roles look like, and help you find a mentoring match. We are also excited about sharing a special scripture journal that will be an integral tool to keep your relationship centered on Jesus.

We will have a follow up Flourish Session on October 17, from 10am-12pm.Room C304, where we will share more details on the mentoring roles and help you get off on the right foot with your mentor/mentee.

Lastly we know ladies love fellowship so as participants in this ministry you will be invited to quarterly Gatherings where you and your mentoring partner come get together with other ladies to share, encourage, and equip one another.

Reservations aren’t required for these events but are appreciated so let us know if you plan to join us. And if you can’t attend the first session but want to hear more just let us know that too!

We promise this will be a beautiful journey we hope you’ll embark on.

Blessings!

The Flourish Team:

Sharon Ashe
