http://fumchvlnc.org/ We are on the corner of Church Street and 6th Avenue. The front entrance to our sanctuary is on Church Street.

Our main parking is on Buncombe street, just west of Church Street, and is in front of the other main entrance to the church, which goes into the Barber Christian Life Center (BCLC). Contemporary Services are held are held in the BCLC, as well as most of our large social events. The BCLC also houses the Weekday school, our large stage, and a basketball court.

Our new sermon series begins this Sunday, September 13! It grew out of the #1 most-requested topic in our sermon planning feedback: “Help us grow in our devotional life and deepen our connection with God in everyday living.”

We often long for a closer relationship with God, yet our best efforts sometimes fall short. Over the next four weeks, we’ll explore practical ways to deepen that connection and get back to the basics of a rich, meaningful life with Christ.

And with our “back to school” theme, of course there’s homework: invite someone to church! I believe growing our hearts in the way of Jesus starts with worship. If our in-person worship attendance grows by 7% during these four weeks, you’ll get to “pie the pastor!” Helping others connect with God is the reason for the invitation—the pie will be a fun way to celebrate reaching our goal!

Bring your Bibles and your friends, and let’s learn and grow together as followers of Jesus. See you Sunday!

Something New Is Coming to Curbside Café: STEALTH HEALTH!

Curbside Café is back for the 2026–2027 season with a brand-new STEALTH HEALTH menu featuring delicious, fully cooked meals designed to make dinner a little easier!

Each frozen entrée serves two, is high in protein, contains approximately 500 calories per serving, and comes packaged in a 32 oz. plant-based biodegradable container—all for just $10. Fresh homemade soups are also available each week for $15 per quart.

Please stop by the Front Desk or call 828-693-4275 to place your order. Inventory is limited, so ordering ahead is strongly encouraged!

Payment: Cash or check at pickup

Third Grade Bible Presentations

It is a tradition in our church to gift our 3rd graders with new Bibles! If you have a current 3rd grader, please email [email protected] by Sunday, September 13th. We want to be sure to include your child in this special tradition. Bibles will be presented during worship services on Sunday, September 20th.

Medicine Collection for Cuba

Thanks to a generous gift by Alice Tippett in 2008, FUMC has had a relationship with a church in Las Tunas Cuba since 2015. The people in our sister church and Las Tunas are in desperate need of over-the-counter medicine that is impossible to get in Cuba. We will collect unopened medicine until September 20th. Please place your donations in the marked bin near the welcome desk or in the narthex. Needed medicines are: Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, Omeprazole, Tolnaftate cream, Clotrimazole cream, Miconazole cream, Terbinafine cream, Multivitamins, Vitamin C, Imodium, Aspirin, Dimenhydrinate.
