First United Methodist Church - Hendersonville, NC http://fumchvlnc.org/ We are on the corner of Church Street and 6th Avenue. The front entrance to our sanctuary is on Church Street.

Our main parking is on Buncombe street, just west of Church Street, and is in front of the other main entrance to the church, which goes into the Barber Christian Life Center (BCLC). Contemporary Services are held are held in the BCLC, as well as most of our large social events. The BCLC also houses the Weekday school, our large stage, and a basketball court.

Special Observance at Annual Conference Is Next Week

One of the special celebrations that will happen at Annual Conference next week is the observance of the 70th anniversary of the vote to allow the ordination and full participation of women in the United Methodist Church. The observance will take place during the worship service of ordination, comissioning and licensing of new pastors on Saturday evening. Pastor Karen and Pastor Erin will be among the clergywomen who will lead the clergy into worship. We celebrate that God continues to call and equip women to lead the church at every level and in many ways. The WNC Annual Conference will take place at Lake Junaluska from Thursday through Sunday. You can watch all the worship services and sessions from Friday morning through Sunday noon at www.ac2026!

First UMC Hendersonville will host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, July 7. Appointments are encouraged and will be honored first, but walk-ins are welcome.

Karen's Send Off
The Staff Parish Relations Committee invites you to help us say goodbye to Pastor Karen Easter Bayne on her last Sunday. We will host a gathering in the Gettman Room between the Ignite and Traditional Services on Sunday, June 14th.

We will be collecting a love offering for Karen. You may drop that off at the send-off or mail it to the church; just make a note of what the gift is for.

Bring your cards and notes to the gathering and we will pass those along to Karen. We will have refreshments, hugs and tears on hand! Help us to celebrate Karen’s six years at FUMC with love and gratitude.

We give extra weight and attention to someone's last words, whether they're spoken from a hospice room, a graduation stage, before sending a child off into the world, or on retirement. Last words are often a summation of a person's life, or they are the most important words of wisdom that can be shared. This Sunday we will hear the last words of Moses, Jesus, and several other wise and faithful people through history. As Pastor Karen begins a new worship series, "The Last Word," come worship, receive communion, and hear her "Final Instructions."
