๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ PRIDE SUNDAY AT FIRST CONGREGATIONAL! It was a wonderfully alive, joyful, love-filled morning for us! The Spirit was truly there.
Highlights were 3 couples sharing their stories during Forum, wonderful decorations, Bruce Mills singing Over the Rainbow and rainbow communion cake. See more info in the notes on the pictures.

๐ŸŽผ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆATLANTA GAY MEN'S CHORUS!!!!๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŽถ Well, what a day! On Saturday, 30 May, as part of our *Roger Smith Concerts of First Congregational Church* series, the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus made their long awaited return to Hendersonville. The short version is - it was fabulous! They presented two performances to full houses of the concert entitled โ€œBeyond the Yellow Brick Roadโ€ featuring the music of Elton John.
Thank youfor the venue, Trinity Presbyterian, and to the dozens of volunteers from both churches who worked to make this happen.
See Comments on each photo. NOTE - this wouldn't post with the couple videos I took. I will try to do those separately.

Please help us congratulate our member and a saint of this church, MILTON STEWART - who was awarded last night the 2026 Governor's Medallion for Volunteer Service.* Miltonโ€™s lifetime of service to the greater community includes, here at our church, establishing and tending our 20yr Vegetable Garden from which ALL fresh produce is gifted to our neighbors through local food pantries.

* The Governor's Medallion Award for Volunteer Service was implemented in 2006 to recognize the top 20-25 volunteers in the state. Medallion recipients are nominated at the county level by the county award coordinator. Only one Medallion nomination is permitted per county. A statewide panel reviews and evaluates all these nominations to determine the award recipients. Medallion Award recipients are honored at an annual recognition ceremony. The medallion is placed around the neck to signify the volunteer's great service to the community.

We are so thankful for and proud of you, Milton. Thank you for ALL you give to our beloved community.

Further adventures of Lynx. As all FCC members and many visitors to this page know, we have a church cat, Lynx. He performs many duties - greeting visitors, keeping Karla's couch from floating away, patrolling the Holy Hallway and inspecting the organ pipes.
Yesterday, he came to help us count the offering money -- and Oops! He was laying on a dollar bill - we almost missed it.
