St. Paul’s in Edneyville is honored to introduce Tyler W. Smith!

Tyler lives in Black Mountain with his wife, Mary Elizabeth, and their two daughters. An endorsed Episcopal chaplain working at CarePartners Hospice, he was recently granted postulancy for Holy Orders in the Episcopal Church. Tyler earned his undergraduate degree from Trevecca Nazarene University and his Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary. He will continue serving patients and families through his hospice ministry while also serving St. Paul's and Transfiguration in a bi-vocational capacity. He is passionate about pastoral care, spiritual formation, and helping people encounter God in community and through a deeper connection with creation.

The Second Sunday of Easter.

Today we considered the first day of the week after Jesus was crucified and resurrected, when he appeared to the disciples.

“Receive the Holy Spirit,” He told them. “If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

Of course, Thomas missed all that, and he was full of doubt. He wanted proof!

A week later, he would get that opportunity, and Jesus would tell him, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”

Today, we focused on faith.

Good Friday.

Today we wondered why this day should be called “good”. Such a solemn occasion. Jesus Christ crucified. Put to death. Executed. Willingly.

Many thanks to the Church of the Transfiguration in Bat Cave for hosting us. We were honored to share in worship with all of you.

Maundy Thursday.

Today we sought to remember and emulate the example given to us by Jesus Christ, the washing of feet, a humble act of love and caring. We were reminded of His new commandment to love one another. We were encouraged to truly live the experience of Holy Week, day by day, not rushing into Easter, but rather striving to imagine and relive the experience of the disciples as it played out, not knowing what’s next.

Palm Sunday

We were blessed to join for worship with our wonderful friends at the Church of the Transfiguration in Bat Cave today. Many thanks to Father John and the entire congregation for welcoming us so warmly. You always make us feel like family!

We now enter Holy Week, preparing for Christ’s betrayal, sacrifice and ultimate victory.
