We ran out of bulletins.
We ran out of backpack tags.
We had people looking for seats.

The rows were full, and our hearts were even fuller. And just because we go back to our own sections of the building next week…let’s remember that we ALL are a part of this family. ❤️

The biggest reminders come in the most unexpected ways.

This morning, a lot of kids were having a hard time. (I get it, kids! Mornings are tough! 😂) And with it being VBS week, I had a million things that needed my attention. We were short on volunteers, I felt like I needed to be in three classrooms at once, and my to-do list just kept growing. But the tears were flowing, so that had to come first…

One toddler wanted nothing to do with any of my usual tricks. No Play-Doh. No silly songs. No snacks. Nothing.

So we just sat together on the floor in a quiet room.

For almost 20 minutes, we sat and breathed together in silence. Then the child stood up, looked at me, and wrapped their arms around me. I could physically feel them finally let their guard down. And I think we both had some tears in our eyes.

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the lessons, the decorations, the games, all the “things”. But moments like this remind me that none of those things are really the point.

The point is sitting on the floor with a child who feels overwhelmed. Being a calm, steady presence when their world feels out of control. Loving them the same on their hardest days as on their happiest ones. To-do lists…they can wait.

We won’t always get a hug at the end.

But today, I did. And I almost forgot… this is the whole point. 🥹❤️
