Today’s Mexico Missions Recap 🇲🇽❤️

Today started bright and early with a 5:00 a.m. wake-up call and breakfast at 6:00 a.m.

We had an early start because of a special outreach opportunity to serve local school children by providing meals and distributing free clothing donations. It was such a blessing to see the pastor from last night’s church service there to welcome us. Everything went incredibly smoothly, and even our YWAM leader commented afterward that he was amazed at how well the morning went.

Afterward, we headed back to our work site to put the finishing touches on the house. We built a dining table with benches, Mike completed the kitchen by installing additional cabinets and hanging curtains, and the rest of the team worked together to finish all the remaining details.

Before leaving, the family we had been serving graciously provided us with lunch. We then gathered for a house dedication, which was an especially meaningful time. As we prayed over the home and the family, I shared with them that our church family wished they could be there with us as we dedicated this house to the Lord and gave glory to Jesus Christ for making this work possible.

We are now back at the campsite, cleaned up after some much-needed showers, and getting ready for dinner. Later this evening, Greg and several members of our team will visit families whose lives have been impacted by homes built on previous mission trips. We are excited to hear their stories and witness the lasting impact that God continues to make through this ministry.

With the construction phase complete, tomorrow will bring new opportunities to serve, learn, and experience what God is doing in this community.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We can truly see God at work each and every day. Please continue praying for our team, the families we’ve met, and that Christ would be glorified through all that we do.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Day Three Recap

We were up at 6:00 a.m. and enjoyed breakfast at 7:30. Oatmeal and eggs were on the menu, and the coffee cake was a nice treat!

Our morning devotional began around 8:30 a.m. and focused on the importance of being present in order to live missionally.

We headed to the job site at 9:30, and the workday flew by. Since most of the major construction had been completed over the first two days, we were able to focus on the finishing touches. Having the perfect-sized team really helped speed up the build, and thanks to Greg’s leadership, everyone had an important role to play.

Mike, along with his son Sean, put there building expertise to work by finishing the kitchen area and helping get the front door installed. David and I set all of the windows and completed the front door installation. By the end of the day, the house was fully completed and the interior was set up with curtains and room dividers. The house and the new outhouse were painted a beautiful brown and cream color with white trim, and the beds were built and put in place.

A few of us even took a walk down to the little country store for some Powerades and snacks during the day. We wrapped up work around 3:00 p.m., with one final task remaining for tomorrow—taking the family shopping.

After dinner at 5:00 p.m., we headed to church for the evening.

It’s been another incredible day of serving, and we’re thankful to see God continuing to work through this team.

Good night, and God bless!

Today’s Mexico Mission Trip Recap:

We started the day with a 6:00 a.m. wake-up call, followed by breakfast at 7:00 a.m. Just as we got going, the rain rolled in, making for an interesting day ahead.

Our morning devotional was at 8:10 a.m., and we arrived at the job site around 9:00 a.m. The muddy roads made for some unforgettable moments. Driving two-wheel-drive vans through the mud was an adventure in itself! One of the vans got stuck in the mud right in front of our project, and Chuck managed to get stuck after taking the scenic route around the block. Watching everyone in that van hop out and push it toward us was absolutely hilarious!

Despite the weather and muddy conditions, our team accomplished an incredible amount of work. We had all the walls up before noon, got the roof set on top of the walls, cut out all the window openings, and by the end of the day, we had a house standing! Tomorrow we’ll tackle the finishing touches.

We made it back to camp around 4:45 p.m., and dinner at 5:00 p.m. was delicious—enchiladas with rice and beans hit the spot after a long day of work.

Now we’re off to enjoy some Thrifty Ice Cream to celebrate another successful day of serving together.

Thank you for continuing to pray for our team, the family we’re serving, and all that God is doing through this trip!

Today’s Mexico Mission Trip Recap

Today was another incredible day!

We started the morning around 6:00 a.m., and a special shout-out goes to Big Mike, who had coffee ready for everyone. That simple act was such a blessing and a great way to start the day.

Breakfast was at 7:00 a.m. and included pancakes, eggs, breakfast meats, and fresh fruit. After breakfast, we gathered for our group devotion at 7:40 a.m., just before our YWAM orientation meeting. We had the opportunity to worship together, led by a worship leader from a team out of Minnesota. At 8:00 a.m., Taylinn shared the history of the local farming community and some of the hardships and injustices many workers have faced over the years. It was a meaningful reminder of why we are here to serve.

We arrived at the worksite around 10:00 a.m. After meeting the family, I had the privilege of opening our project with prayer for both the family and the work ahead of us. Our team worked incredibly hard today, and under the excellent leadership of Big Mike, our project foreman, we made tremendous progress. By the end of the day, we had built all four walls and the roof structure, with everything being painted as we went. Tomorrow’s goal is to stand the walls up and bring the house together.

We left the worksite around 5:30 p.m. and headed back to the YWAM compound for some much-needed showers and a delicious dinner of lasagna, followed by chocolate brownies for dessert. (Definitely a crowd favorite!)

At 7:00 p.m., we gathered as a team to celebrate the day’s victories. We recognized the outstanding work of our painting crew and gave a special shout-out to Maddy, who thoughtfully bought the father of the family a pair of work gloves to help with the build. Small acts of kindness like that make a big impact.

Greg led our evening meeting and walked us through the schedule for the next couple of days. He has been doing an excellent job leading and serving our team throughout this mission trip.

Good night, and thank you for continuing to pray for our team and the family we’re serving!
