The RMW hosted an Ice Cream Social last evening with 8 freezers of homemade ice cream and 7 delicious flavors—peach, pineapple, vanilla (2 freezers!), orange sherbet, Oreo cookie, strawberry and Kit Kat—there was something for everyone. We enjoyed a great turnout with longtime friends stopping by for a bowl and current friends gathering for fellowship and fun.

The evening also offered an opportunity to support our July Mission: collecting shampoo and conditioner for the Granville County Public Schools CARES initiative. CARES, created by GCPS Social Workers, stands for Clothing Access Resources Essentials and Supplies—a program that provides students in need with basic items to help them.

We are grateful for everyone who attended the social, all who contributed to the mission collection, and all who made ice cream or brought cookies. Your generosity and participation made for an enjoyable evening.

GCS CARES Project: Granville County Public School Social Workers are excited to announce a new initiative launching in the 2026–2027 school year: the GCS CARES Project—an acronym for Clothing, Access, Resources, Essentials, and Supplies. This resource will offer students access to clothing, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and school supplies to help meet basic needs that can impact school attendance and success. If you become aware of a student who may benefit from this support, please refer them to your school social worker. The social worker will connect with the student and their family to assess needs and provide appropriate assistance. Each month, we will highlight specific donation needs. Contributions can be dropped off at your school’s front office, county office, given directly to your school social worker or you may drop off by CCM and Becky will get it delivered for you. Donation Schedule: May/June: Laundry supplies; July: Cleaning supplies; August: Shampoo and conditioner; September and beyond: To be announced. Due to inclement weather, several floral arrangements were displaced from gravesites last night. They have been relocated along the woods' edge near the basketball court for safekeeping. If you identify any of these arrangements, please return them to their respective graves.

On June 11th, Rehoboth hosted a meal, catered by Family Diner of Oxford, in appreciation of the volunteer firefighters from the Watkins Fire Department.
