Friends, family, and neighbors of Henderson and Vance County,
This evening at 6:30 pm, the doors of St. James Missionary Baptist Church will open for a moment our souls truly need.
We gather for A Night of Healing and Hope.
Over the last three weeks our church family has walked through a valley of grief that has been deeper and heavier than words can easily hold. And now we mourn the passing of Lattiemore Wright, our brother, our Marine veteran, our retired Battalion Chief of the Vance County Fire Department, and the first Black fire captain in this county’s history. A man who spent his life running toward danger so others could live. A man who carried the weight of other people’s emergencies so families could be made whole again.
And so tonight we will do what the church has always done in moments like this. We will come together and we will remember that healing does not happen in isolation; it happens in community.
This evening is not only for the members of St. James. It is for the entire community. If you are carrying sorrow… if the world feels heavier than usual… if you simply need a moment to breathe in the presence of God and people who care, then come.
Because sometimes the most powerful act of faith is simply showing up for one another.
So meet us this evening:

Wednesday, March 11
6:30 pm
And as we gather tonight, we remember the quiet promise spoken in one of the lesser-known passages of Scripture, words written for moments when hearts are heavy but heaven is still watching:
“But the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him.”
— Isaiah 30:18
Tonight, we wait together.
