✝️ Honoring the Uganda Martyrs – June 3 ✝️

Today we remember the Uganda Martyrs, a group of young Christian men who chose faith over fear in the Kingdom of Buganda between 1885 and 1887.

When ordered to renounce Christ and submit to the demands of King Mwanga II, they refused. Their courage cost them their lives. On June 3, 1886, 32 young believers were marched to Namugongo and martyred for their faith.

Among them were St. Charles Lwanga, St. Kizito, Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe, Matiya Mulumba, and many others whose witness continues to inspire Christians around the world.

What their persecutors intended to silence instead became a powerful testimony. Their sacrifice helped strengthen and spread Christianity throughout East Africa and beyond.

The Uganda Martyrs remind us that true faith is not measured by comfort, but by conviction. Their lives stand as a lasting example of courage, purity, integrity, and unwavering devotion to Christ.
