John 6:29 — The Work God Requires Is Faith

Jesus said, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

The people asked Jesus what they needed to do to accomplish the works of God. Jesus pointed them first to faith.

Before our service, ministry, giving, teaching, or religious activity comes this foundation: Believe in Jesus Christ, the One God sent.

Biblical faith is more than believing that Jesus existed. It means trusting Him with our lives, believing His Word, and following where He leads.

Good works are important, but they do not purchase salvation. Our works should flow from our faith, not replace it.

Faith leads to obedience. Faith produces fruit. Faith keeps our eyes on Christ.

Today, let us ask ourselves:

Do I truly trust the One whom God sent?

Today’s Declaration:
I believe in Jesus Christ whom the Father sent. I will trust Him, follow Him, and live according to His Word.

Prayer:
Father, strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ. Help us trust You completely and let our lives demonstrate what we believe. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Romans 12:4–5 — “One Body in Christ”

Paul compares the Church to the human body. A body has many members—hands, feet, eyes, ears, heart—yet every member has a different function. Difference does not mean division. Difference is part of God’s design.

In the same way, every believer has a place and a purpose. One may preach, another teach, another pray, another serve, another encourage, another give, and another quietly care for people behind the scenes. We do not all have to do the same thing to be equally important to God.

The key words are:

“We, being many, are one body in Christ.”

Christ is what joins us together. Our personalities may differ. Our gifts may differ. Our backgrounds, cultures, ages, and experiences may differ. But when we belong to Christ, we belong to one Body.

Paul goes even further when he says we are “individually members of one another.” That means Christianity is not simply Jesus and me. God has connected us to each other. When one member suffers, the Body is affected. When one member grows stronger, the Body becomes stronger. When one member refuses to perform his or her God-given function, something is missing.

A Teaching Thought

Stop comparing your assignment with somebody else's assignment.

The eye should not try to become the hand. The hand should not become jealous of the foot. God placed each member where He desired because every function is necessary for the whole Body to operate properly.

This also gives us an important lesson for the Church today: unity does not require uniformity. We can have different gifts and responsibilities while still having one Lord, one faith, and one purpose.

God has given each of us a different function, but He has joined all believers together so that we may accomplish His work as one Body in Christ.

Question for Reflection

Am I faithfully doing my part in the Body of Christ—and am I valuing the part God has given to others?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for placing me in the Body of Christ. Help me to recognize the purpose You have given me, to use my gifts faithfully, and never to look down upon the gifts of another. Teach us to work together in love, because although we are many members, we are one Body in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse of the Day
Psalm 119:165 (New King James Version)

Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble.

🌿 Today’s Lesson: Great Peace

This verse does not promise that people who love God will never face trouble. It promises something deeper: trouble does not have to overthrow us.

The Hebrew idea behind “peace” (shalom) is more than the absence of conflict. It speaks of wholeness, well-being, completeness, and security. The person who loves God's Word develops an inward stability that circumstances cannot easily destroy.

Notice that David says, “those who love Your law.” He does not merely say those who know God's Word, read God's Word, or quote God's Word. We are called to love it—to treasure God's instruction enough to obey it.

And then comes the promise:

“Nothing causes them to stumble.”

That does not mean we will never make a mistake. It means that when our lives are anchored in God's Word, the things placed in our path do not have the power to permanently knock us away from Him.

✨ Three Truths to Remember
God's Word produces peace.
When the world is confusing, His Word gives us something solid upon which to stand.
Loving God's Word changes how we respond.
Instead of allowing every offense, disappointment, temptation, or difficulty to control us, we ask, “What does God say?”
Peace and stability go together.
The more deeply God's truth is planted within us, the less easily circumstances can shake us.
🙏 Prayer

Father, teach us to love Your Word—not simply to read it, but to live by it. Let Your truth settle our hearts and give us great peace. When trials, offenses, temptations, and disappointments come, keep our feet from stumbling. Help us remain steadfast in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thought for today:
🌿 When I love God's Word, I can walk through a troubled world with a peaceful heart.

Verse of the Day
Psalm 42:8 (New Living Translation)

But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.
Psalm 42:8 — “His Love Never Stops”

The setting of Psalm 42 makes this verse especially powerful. The psalmist is not speaking from a place where everything is going well. He is thirsting for God, battling discouragement, remembering better days, and asking his own soul why it is cast down. Yet in the middle of that struggle, he remembers something greater than his circumstances: God has not stopped loving him.

“Each day the LORD pours His unfailing love upon me.” God does not merely give us a small portion of His love. The picture is of love being poured out. His mercy, compassion, protection, patience, and faithfulness continue to flow even when we cannot see what He is doing.

“Through each night I sing His songs.” The nighttime can represent more than the hours after sunset. There are seasons of life that feel like night—uncertainty, loneliness, disappointment, grief, or waiting. Yet the believer can still have a song because darkness does not mean God has departed.

And then comes the beautiful conclusion: “praying to God who gives me life.” The psalmist recognizes that God is not simply someone he believes in; God is the very source and sustainer of his life. In the daytime, receive His love.
In the nighttime, sing His song.
At all times, stay in prayer.

Whatever changes around us, God's faithful love does not change. We can wake knowing that His love is being poured upon us, and we can lie down knowing that the God who gave us life is still keeping us. My circumstances may change from day to night, but God's unfailing love remains the same.

Prayer: Father, thank You for pouring Your unfailing love upon us every day. When we enter difficult nights, put Your song within our hearts. Keep us praying, trusting, and remembering that You are the God who gives and sustains our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen. ❤️🙏🏾

Verse of the Day
Psalm 16:8 (New King James Version)

I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. I Shall Not Be Moved

David gives us a powerful picture of a life that is firmly anchored in God. He says, “I have set the LORD always before me.” That means God is not an occasional thought—He is first in our decisions, our relationships, our struggles, and our plans.

Then David says, “He is at my right hand.” The right hand represents a place of strength, support, and readiness. David understood that whatever came against him, he was not facing it alone.

That is why he could confidently declare: “I shall not be moved.”

This does not mean trouble will never come. It means trouble does not have to determine where we stand. Winds may blow, circumstances may change, people may disappoint us, and unexpected trials may arise—but when our eyes remain on the Lord, our foundation remains secure.

Three Lessons for Today
Set God before you. Seek His will before making your own way.
Remember God is beside you. You do not have to face today's challenges in your own strength.
Stand firm. Faith does not mean nothing shakes around us; it means we refuse to abandon our confidence in God when it does.

Thought for today:
When God is before me, beside me, and within me, I do not have to be controlled by what is happening around me.

Prayer
Father, help me to keep You before me today. When circumstances try to shake my faith, remind me that You are at my right hand. Strengthen my heart so that I can stand firmly upon Your Word and declare with confidence, “I shall not be moved.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse of the Day
1 John 5:12 (New King James Version)

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

John does not present eternal life as merely something Christians receive someday after death. Life begins when we receive the Son. Jesus brings us into relationship with God now and gives us eternal life that continues beyond the grave.

Three Truths to Teach
1. “He who has the Son…” — We must possess a relationship with Christ.
Knowing about Jesus is not the same as belonging to Jesus. Christianity is more than church attendance, religious knowledge, or good works. We must personally receive Christ by faith.

2. “…has life.” — Jesus gives both present and eternal life.
Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). In Christ we receive spiritual life, forgiveness, reconciliation with God, hope, purpose, and ultimately eternal life.

3. “…he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” — There is no substitute for Jesus.
This is the serious side of the verse. John draws a clear line: the determining question is whether we have the Son. Religion cannot replace Him. Good works cannot replace Him. Church membership cannot replace Him. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).

You might put it this way:

You can have possessions and still not have life.
You can have education and still not have life.
You can have influence and still not have life.
You can even have religion and still miss life.
But when you have Jesus, you have the One in whom true life is found.
To have Jesus Christ is to possess eternal life; without Christ, we remain spiritually separated from the life God offers.

And there is a wonderful assurance in the very next verse. John says he wrote these things so believers “may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). God does not intend His children to live continually wondering whether Christ has given them life. If we have genuinely received the Son, we can have assurance that we have life.

Today's question is simple but eternal: Do I have the Son?
If the answer is yes, then according to God's Word: I have life.
