Well, the 19th biennial session of the Regional Convocation is in the books! Thanks to all who attended and participated in this awesome event. The theme was “God’s Will, God’s Way.” The selected scripture came from 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
On Friday night, we were blessed with an inspiring message entitled “P.S. My People” from Rev. Yvonne Gilmore, Interim Administrative Secretary of the National Convocation and Associate General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. On Saturday, she again blessed us with a dynamic message entitled “P.S. I Will Heal The Land.” Other presenters on Saturday included Rev. Fannie Ashley who conducted a workshop for the youth; Tenika Cain worked with the children; and Shemeka Robinson shared information regarding finances.
Special thanks to the Butler County local officials for bringing greetings; the host churches and their pastors (New Bethel – Rev. Tommie Means; Harrison Street – Rev. Timothy O’Neal; and Ambassadors for Christ – Rev. Pamela Wilson); Regional Minister Rev. John Mobley, Associate Regional Minister Rev. Dale Braxton, Convocation Board, Jackson Hospital, Hudson Funeral Home, and other donors/contributors. Further gratitude is extended to New Bethel for allowing the group to convene in its facility and for “rolling out the red carpet” to all in attendance.
