Emmanuel Church is a community of Christians covenanted with the Lord Jesus Christ and one another, committed to proclaiming and living out the gospel of Jesus’s victory in our city, Helena, MT.

We worship Jesus together, we love the Bible, we enjoy fellowship (often with generous amounts of food), we seek to love our neighbors, grow in thankfulness, rejoice in everything, and strive to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

We believe that the focus of worship on the Lord’s Day is the pleasure of God and the renewal of the covenant of grace between Jesus Christ and His church. Our understanding of worship leads us away from personal entertainment, and instead, worship draws us near to the Triune God in joyful fellowship. With the weekly gifts of Word and Sacrament, we are shaped and formed into the image of Christ as we grow into His likeness.

Emmanuel Church is pastored by Jonah Barnes. More can be found at our website: https://emmanuelchurchhelena.org/

Here at Emmanuel Church, we had a glorious Resurrection Sunday!

After a beautiful worship service and hearty fellowship meal, all the children got to smash the dragon’s head before plundering him in a massive Easter egg hunt!

Slaying the dragon is symbolic for crushing the head of the Serpent and defeating Death!

So thankful for the gift of salvation, and the sacrifice Jesus made for us in His Incarnation, Crucifiction, and Resurrection! ✝️🤍🙌🏽⚔️🐉

Pray for our brothers in Canada who are imprisoned for not rendering unto Caesar the things which are God’s.

This morning, those presiding over pastor Tim's case met in a call to discuss his trial date for the future. Pastor Tim wasn't present on the call and the proceedings regarding his case and circumstance were brief.

The court has adjourned his case until July the 12th. This means that pastor Tim will most likely remain in the Remand Centre until this time.

The extension of pastor Tim's unjust imprisonment is a frustrating development of the injustice practiced in our province. However, we are reminded that the highest court is God's, and when afflicted in this world we, and brother Tim, are given the unique opportunity to manifest Christ. Let's continue to take up the weapon of prayer on pastor Tim's behalf brothers and sisters.

"We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you" (2 Corinthians 4:8-12).

More will be released as it develops.

Hallelujah! Happy Resurrection Day!

"One of the criminals said, 'Jesus, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom.' And Jesus said to him, 'Truly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.'" (Luke 23:42-43)

"For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing." (1 Thess. 5:9-11)

The Session of Emmanuel Church has decided to cancel ALL the weekly meetings of the church for the coming weeks, except for the Lord's Day service.

The Lord's Day service is continuing because of what we believe the Bible teaches us concerning our worship on the Lord's Day. It is the time that the people of God enter through the veil of Christ's flesh into the Most Holy Place to bring our petitions to the Lord of all, the only One who can bring change on the earth. It is the time for the Kingdom of priests gather to intercede for the life of the world through prayer. When we see plagues upon Israel in the Old Testament, they cease when a sacrifice is offered to God, and the Lord's Day is when we renew covenant with God through the once for all sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God, for the sins of the world. The church throughout history has faced plagues and pestilence in faith, and we intend to follow our fathers and mothers in the same. Our life comes from outside ourselves. We receive it from the Lord of Life, and He has promised to meet us in His Word and at His Table. We are the Bride, and Sunday is our time to come before our Husband and ask Him to care for His Kingdom.

This is not a call to be brash and challenge God. So yes, if you are sick, stay home just like you would during a normal flu season. If you are worried about getting sick, of course, you may stay home. However, the best thing the church can do for the world, our nation, and our city is to worship God and to receive His life-giving Word an Sacrament.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever."
