About the speaker: With over two decades of experience in the technology sector, Brett Koger brings a unique blend of professional expertise and practical, "in the trenches" parenting experience to the topic of online safety.
A graduate of Missouri State University with a degree in Computer Information Systems, Brett has spent his career navigating the complexities of digital infrastructure. Currently serving as a Network Engineer specializing in network monitoring for a major airline, he possesses a deep, technical understanding of how data moves and how systems are secured.
Beyond his professional credentials, Brett’s most impactful work happens at home. A member of Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster, Alabama, and a Colson Fellow in Biblical Worldview, he approaches the challenges of technology through the lens of faith. He has been actively monitoring his children’s digital devices since his oldest turned ten, and he brings that history of trial and error to his teaching. Having navigated the evolution of digital parenting, he is the first to admit that the landscape has changed drastically, and he often shares what he would do differently if he were starting today.
Brett is deeply passionate about helping parents navigate the fast-moving world of technology, providing them with a Biblical framework for discipleship and practical strategies to protect their children online.
Originally from a farming community in Southwest Missouri, Brett moved to Alabama in 2003, where he resides with his wife, Ashley. They are proud parents to three children: their oldest son, who is currently attending Missouri State University; their 20-year-old, who recently welcomed their first grandson into the family; and their youngest daughter, who attends a Classical Christian school in the area.
