Greetings and Salutations Friends!
In the vast majority of churches, Mother's Day is a pretty big deal. They may be given flowers. The Sunday School kids might present a program. A sermon praising moms.
Father's Day, on the other hand, may or may not gain a bit of recognition. The sermon often calls dads to task for not being a better father.
They don't get flowers or a special presentation by the Sunday School kids. They often are just told they need to do a better job of being a good dad.
Being a dad myself, as are many other pastors, I think WE in the pulpit need to do a better job of helping equip dads to do a better job.
So, tomorrow I'm not going to tell all the dads to do a better job. Nope, I'm going to share with them some good stuff on HOW to be a better dad.

Greetings and Salutations Friends!
According to my dictionary, Priorities means, "something that is very important and must be dealt with before other things" or "something given or meriting attention before competing alternatives."
According to people, Priorities generally means something they value more other things, such as money, power, prestige, possessions, just to name a few.
And just so we're clear on this, valuing (prioritizing) such things is not wrong and everybody has the right to prioritize as they see fit.
But (there's always a "but", right?), sometimes our priorities get out of whack, so to speak. Priorities can change, depending on the situation and we may fail to adapt our priorities.
We will extrapolate all of this tomorrow in regards to the church as we explore what the main purpose (priority) is for the church.

Greetings and Salutations Friends!
It isn't my saying, but I have said many times, "The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary." And work can sometimes be hard.
Now, if we extrapolate that thought, we can have a better shot at comprehending what Paul is saying in our scripture passage for tomorrow.
Work can be hard. But, if we persevere, we can achieve a level of success. Life can be hard. But, if we endure, we can build our character, which can evolve into hope.
I "hope" you are following what I am saying but, if not, maybe hearing, as Paul Harvey used to say, the "rest of the story", it will become clear for you tomorrow.
We will also be celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion and invite you to celebrate with us.

Greetings and Salutations Friends!
Who's on first" What's on second? I don't know's on third. If those questions sound familiar to you, you have obviously heard the famous Abbott and Costello routine.
If you have led a sheltered life and have never had the chance to enjoy their comedy, I hope you go to Youtube and search for them. I think you'll really enjoy them.
They won't be in church tomorrow in person, but their "Who's On First?" comedy sketch will be there to try and help explain the difficult concept of the Trinity - God Three in One.
They may be successful, maybe not, but it should provide at least a bit of humor to the attempt to help us understand this confusing theology.

Greetings and Salutations Friends!
When we camp, we always have a fire going. And when I say a fire, I mean a FIRE. I like BIG fires. I often tell people that if you can't see my fire from the moon, it isn't big enough.
And while I've gotten safer over time, moving from gas to kerosene as a fire starter, that also takes away the big kaboom! But, even my biggest "kaboom!" can't compare to God's big "kaboom!" we're celebrating tomorrow.
Tomorrow is Pentecost, also described as the birth of "The Church." And if you're wondering what fires and "kabooms" has to due with Pentecost, well, tune in tomorrow for the answer.
Oh, and don't forget....WEAR RED!
