Immaculate Conception Mission Concepcion, Texas, Duval County. Concepcion, locally called "La Chona", was named for Santa Cruz de Concepción, a land grant from the Spanish government to Francisco Cordente. The first church was built in 1879 by Fr. Claude Jaillet from the San Diego Parish. When the Franciscans arrived in 1926, Bishop Ledvina gave this mission to their care. In 1947, the Franciscans started to build a new church, and modeled it after the Inmaculada Chapel in Hebbronville. In 1967, the mission became part of the Premont Parish.
