Our Mega Basket contains a 5lb Chocolate bar that has been donated by our local Hershey plant. In case you are curious, a 5lb chocolate bar should provide about 80 servings of chocolate. If you didn't share this bar with 79 of your friends and ate the whole bar yourself, you would consume approximately 11,200 calories. The bar contains 284 teaspoons (or 2.6lbs) of pure sugar. The good news is that by eating one serving of this bar your body receives as much Iron as it would from eating an 8oz serving of broccoli.
So if you happen to win the Mega Basket and the Mega chocolate bar, remember this line from Hebrews 13:16: "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."

The Community Fun Day Committee is looking for some volunteers to help with our event. We will need some men and women for the kitchen and food sales. We will need people to help at the Bake Sale tables. We will need additional people to take a shift with our Baket Raffle. We can use a few teens to serve as runners for Bingo and for Food. We will also need two volunteers for our Kid's Fun Zone. We'll need some help on our Grounds Crew ( trash cans, bathrooms, water, parking lot). We will also need some help at the closing of Community Fun Day to get tables and chairs back inside . There will be a sign-up sheet for volunteers at the back of the church this weekend. You may also send a message to us here on Facebook. Please include your name, phone number, hours available and area where you would be interested in helping. We'll do our best to match everyone up to a spot where they are comfortable.

This weekend we celebrate Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. Filled with the Spirit, they were sent forth to preach, to heal, and to evangelize. We too share in this gift of the Holy Spirit, and like the Apostles, we are called to be guided and strengthened by the Spirit in our daily lives.
At Confirmation, we hear the words, “Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.” This seal is not like a box taped shut and never opened. God does not give us the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that they remain hidden away, unused and unseen. Rather, the seal is an indelible mark upon our souls, claiming us as Christ’s own.
Because we are sealed with the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to open those gifts and put them into action, just as the Apostles did. We are called to use our gifts to live a life that imitates Christs’ and in doing so, to lead others to faith — through our words, our actions, and the witness of our lives. Opportunities to do this will come before us each day. When they do, may we have the courage to follow where the Holy Spirit leads.

Day 9 The Fruits of the Holy Spirit

The gifts of the Holy Spirit perfect the supernatural virtues by enabling us to practice them with greater docility to divine inspiration. As we grow in the knowledge and love of God under the direction of the Holy Spirit, our service becomes more sincere and generous, the practice of virtue more perfect. Such acts of virtue leave the heart filled with joy and consolation and are known as Fruits of the Holy Spirit. These Fruits in turn render the practice of virtue more attractive and become a powerful incentive for still greater efforts in the service of God, to serve Whom is to reign.

Prayer

Come, O Divine Spirit, fill my heart with Thy heavenly fruits, Thy charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, faith, mildness, and temperance, that I may never weary in the service of God, but by continued faithful submission to Thy inspiration may merit to be united eternally with Thee in the love of the Father and the Son. Amen.

Our Father and Hail Mary once
Glory be to the Father seven times and conclude with the Prayer for the Seven Gifts

Day 8 The Gift of Wisdom

Embodying all the other gifts, as charity embraces all the other virtues, Wisdom is the most perfect of the gifts. Of wisdom it is written 'all good things came to me with her, and innumerable riches through her hands.' It is the gift of Wisdom that strengthens our faith, fortifies hope, perfects charity, and promotes the practice of virtue in the highest degree. Wisdom enlightens the mind to discern and relish things divine, in the appreciation of which earthly joys lose their savor, whilst the Cross of Christ yields a divine sweetness according to the words of the Saviour: 'Take up thy cross and follow me, for my yoke is sweet and my burden light.

Prayer

Come, O Spirit of Wisdom, and reveal to my soul the mysteries of heavenly things, their exceeding greatness, power and beauty. Teach me to love them above and beyond all the passing joys and satisfactions of earth. Help me to attain them and possess them for ever. Amen.

Our Father and Hail Mary once
Glory be to the Father seven times and conclude with the Prayer for the Seven Gifts
