As our students begin a new school year,
I pray that you will keep them in your care.
Send your Spirit to open their minds
to all that is true and beautiful and good
Help them to see the gifts and talents
you have given them and to use them well.
Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom.
Help them to be kind to others
and lead others to be kind to them.
Give their teachers patience and understanding
and help them teach what is just and true.
Send your angels to guide and guard our
children and to keep them from all harm.
Open their young hearts to your presence
and enfold them in your peace and protection.
Hold them in the palm of your hand
and bring them home safely at day’s end.

The deadline to register is Tuesday September 8th.
St. John Bosco Parish in Conyngham will host a training session for new Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion on Saturday, September 26, The training session wil begin at 10:00a.m. and will conclude by 1:00 p.m.
Registration, coffee, juice, and breakfast pastries will be available beginning at 9:30a.m.
This training session is open to all Catholics in good standing who are at least 21 years of age, are registered members of a Catholic parish within the Greater Hazleton Deanery, and actively participate in the life of their parish. We encourage all who feel called to this important ministry to prayerfully consider serving Christ and His Church through the distribution of the Holy Eucharist. Serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is both a privilege and a sacred responsibility.

If we truly acted with love in everything we did, would we need so many other laws? Would we owe other debts? Would we need rules reminding us to treat others with dignity, kindness, and respect? If we genuinely loved our neighbor as God calls us to, perhaps many of the problems we face would not exist.
Loving the people we know and like is usually easy. We naturally care about our family, our friends, and those who are kind to us. But the message we hear in today’s second reading is much more challenging: “Love one another.” Everyone. No exceptions.
The Ten Commandments were given to Moses by God as instructions for how we are to live. At their heart, they are rooted in two things: love of God and love of one another. As St. Paul tells us, “The one who loves has fulfilled the law.”
Love is more than just a romantic feeling. In Corinthians we are told “Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous”. We probably have all heard that verse at some point. Love is a choice we make in how we speak, how we act, how we forgive, and how we treat others—even when they make it difficult.
As we go through this week, let us look for opportunities to put that love into action, especially when it is most challenging. Let us remember that every person we encounter is someone God calls us to love.

All are invited to join us as we celebrate the Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our Mass times are Saturday at 4:15PM and Sunday at 10AM. Ladies from the Christian Women's Society will be leading the Rosary for First Saturday. They begin at 3:40PM. All are invited to join with them in this traditional and powerful prayer.
As a quick reminder, CCD registration forms are available at all church entrances. Classes are offered for students entering first through eighth grade . Classes begin Sunday September 13th at 9AM.
