76 years ago, a young girl named Winona Kerns walked through the doors of Hazlehurst Church of God with her siblings and parents! Little did she know that this church would become the place where she would marry Brother Ray, raise her family, and spend a lifetime serving the Lord alongside her church family.
For decades, Ray and Winona Jowers have faithfully poured themselves into this church. They have served in countless roles, given generously of their time and talents, and invested in generations of people. Their fingerprints are all over the story of Hazlehurst Church of God.
Their legacy extends beyond their own faithful service. Nearly 40 years ago, their son Andy took his place behind the drums as a young boy. Yet here we are, decades later, and he is still faithfully serving, helping lead worship and blessing our congregation through his dedication and consistency week after week.
The Jowers family has been more than members—they have been an integral part of the body of Christ in this place. Through their service, friendship, faithfulness, and unwavering commitment to God’s house, they have left a lasting impact on countless lives and helped shape the story of our church.
While it is difficult to imagine Hazlehurst Church of God without them, we are grateful for the years we have shared and excited for all that God has ahead for them. It is our honor to celebrate their legacy and send them into this next season surrounded by love, gratitude, and blessing.
Thank you, Brother Ray, Sister Winona, and Brother Andy, for your lifetime of faithfulness, service, and devotion to the Kingdom of God. Church family, make plans to come, bring a side dish, and love on this family as we celebrate their next chapter!
