We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a new Islamic Studies class for new-Muslims, or anyone who wishes to increase their knowledge of Islam. Class is for sisters only, however, registration is open to brothers as well. If we receive enough interest from brothers, we will offer a class for brothers separately.

Class details are as follows:
-Course Title: Islam 101
-Class Time: Every Sunday at 3:00
-Start Date: Sunday, May 25th at 3:00 PM
-Location: Dar- Al Jalal Cafeteria
-Textbook: Islamic Studies Book 1 by Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips
-Target Audience: New-Muslims, or beginner-level students
-Duration: 15 weeks (1 session per week, 60–90/session)
Course Objectives
• - Understand the basics of Islamic creed (ʿAqīdah)
• - Recognize key events from the Prophet’s life (Sīrah)
• - Learn foundational concepts from the Qur’an and Hadith
• - Grasp core elements of Islamic worship and moral character
Weekly Syllabus Overview
Week 1: Introduction to Islam & Purpose of the Course -Understanding Islam as a way of life
Week 2: Ch 1- The Pillars of Islam (Memorize and explain the Five Pillars)
Week 3: Ch 2- The Articles of Faith (Understand and explain the Six Pillars of Faith)
Week 4: Ch 3- The Meaning of Tawheed (Define Tawheed and recognize its importance)
Week 5: Ch 4- Categories of Tawheed (Learn about al-Rubūbiyyah, al-Ulūhiyyah, and al-Asmāʾ wa al-Ṣifāt)
Week 6: Ch 5- The Opposite of Tawheed: Shrik (Recognize types of shrink and their dangers)
Week 7: Ch 6- The Qur’an: Allah’s Final Revelation (Understand the significance and preservation of the Qur’an)
Week 8: Ch 7- The Sunnah: The Second Source of Islam (Understand the Importance of Hadith and Sunnah)
Week 9: Ch 8- Worship in Islam (Salah- learn about prayer and its inner meaning)
Week 10: Ch 9- Wudoo’ (Ablution) and Cleanliness (Learn how to perform proper ablution and its conditions)
Week 11: Ch 10- The Life of Prophet Muhammad saw (Seerah) - Part 1 (Understand the early life of the Prophet (saw))
Week 12: Ch 11- The life of Prophet Muhammad saw (Seerah)- Part 2 (Explore key events in the life of Prophet’s mission in Makkah)
Week 13: Ch 12- Islamic Manners & Good Character (Learn about core values like honesty, humility, and patience)
Week 14: Review and assessment of all chapters- Review major themes, assess with quiz or project
Week 15: Student Presentations/Final Reflection
Supplemental Activities
