Thank you to Fr. Lijo, Deacon Dave, and everyone that used their time and talents to make St. Martin's final parish Mass truly beautiful. Also, thanks to all those that helped set up a delicious ice cream social after Mass. And finally, thank you to all the past and current parishioners that came to celebrate with us this morning.

Happy Birthday to us! Today the Archdiocese of St. Louis celebrates its 197th birthday!

in 1826, the diocese of St. Louis was erected by Pope Leo XII. Just over 20 years later, on July 20,1847, the diocese was elevated to an archdiocese by Pope Pius IX. This photo is of an important moment in our history—the consecration of the New Cathedral, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, in 1926.

St. Louis, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, patrons of the Archdiocese, pray for us!

A gift to the Retired Priest Collection is a way to show gratitude for everything our retired priests have done to support us, our families, our parishes, and our communities. They have been there to celebrate the most joyous moments of our lives and to support us in the most trying times.

You can make your gift during the collection on Easter Sunday OR give anytime online at archstl.org/retiredpriests, by texting 4PRIESTS to (314) 648-8456, or by scanning the QR code on the collection envelopes at your parish.

Please read the article and think about offering your help with prayers and donations!

Today, we join our Brothers and Sisters in Christ across the globe in mourning the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, a man who humbly and selflessly dedicated his life to sharing the good news of God's redemptive love. Pope Benedict faithfully served the Roman Catholic Church as a priest for over 70 years. His immense contributions to the Roman Curia provide great inspiration for our stewardship of His Holy Church.

During his time in the Vatican, His Holiness confronted increasing secularism around the world, a struggle that continues today. As we reflect on his life during this blessed Christmas season, I pray that we may all be guided by his example and walk closer to Christ in our own lives. We do this because, as Pope Benedict has so simply stated, "when we give ourselves to Him, we receive a hundredfold in return."

We thank God for the many blessings that Pope Benedict has bestowed upon the Church and all God's children. May the Lord grant eternal rest unto him and let perpetual light shine upon him.

Pray for the repose of the soul Pope Benedict!

Today we celebrate the feast of one of our archdiocese's patrons! St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, pray for us!

"I am where God wills me to be, and so I have found rest and security. His wisdom governs me, His power defends me, His grace sanctifies me, His mercy encompasses me, His joy sustains me and all will go well with me."
