The final Mass in tbe pilgrimage was held in the Basilica of St. Florian where St. John Paul served as a young priest in the 1950s.

That side altar displays a painting of St. John Paul II in his 30s.

The Church has a 1st degree relic of St. John Paul and permitted Fr. Henry to display it during Mass then used it imparting his blessing.

St. John Paul II's picture hangs in the Sacristy.

And this Church altar reaches the sky!

They went up to Mt. Gubalowka to enjoy the beautiful scenery there ... and it was a place that St. John Paul II enjoyed.

They really are in the footsteps of St. John Paul II on this Pilgrimage. Here's a pic in the sacristy there from St. John Paul II's last visit. And here's Fr. Henry bowing before the same altar!

Another interesting place they visited was the Chapel of Our Lady of Fatima in Krzeptowki. This small log cabin of a chapel was built by then-Archbishop Wojtyla who loved to come out to the mountains and enjoy the outdoors.

They visited the Chapel of Our Lady of Podhale. There is a nice story about how when then- Archbishop Karol Wojtyla was a young bishop in 1963 there was a procession of the statue of Our Lady of Podhale ... in the hand of the statue was a scepter. While the statue was being carried, the scepter became dislodged and Archbishop Wojtyla, who was one of those holding the statue aloft, was able to catch the scepter before it hit the ground. Cardinal Wyszynski, the Primate of Poland, remarked to Archbishop Wojtyla, our Blessed Mother wants to share some of her power with you. He returned to the Church in Podhale to honor our Blessed Mother.

There is a field behind the Church where St. John Paul led the Rosary in 1997. Can you imagine this field being filled with 200,000 people who came to see him in this small village???

Fr. Henry says that the plaque states that on this spot St. John Paul led the prayer service.

Under the gazebo, which is now a permanent structure, a chapel dedicated to St. John Paul II was constructed.

This is where the scepter is located as well as the Rosary St. John Paul II used for the prayer service there.

A story from a few days past from the pilgrims —- on the 10th we traveled to the Franciscan Monastery founded by St. Maximilian Kolbe. A fascinating museum is there recounting aspects of his life. St. Maximilian Kolbe was canonized by St. John Paul II in 1982. He was in charge of the Franciscan Monastery in Niepokalanow, a short drive from Krakow, during WWII. He was arrested by the N***s after being accused of hiding Jews at the Monastery. He was sent to Auschwitz where his famous story occurred ... a Jewish father who was sentenced to death begged to be spared because he had a family. St. Maximilian Kolbe offered his life for the Jewish father. St. Maximilian Kolbe was starved for two weeks but did not die. At that point, a concentration camp doctor injected his heart with acid instantly killing him. There is a series of paintings at the museum depicting the incarceration and murder of St. Maximilan Kolbe. It is a very moving story. The monastery was huge along with the chapel .

After they visited the Divine Mercy Santuary they we t to the St. John Paul Center - nudt scross the field. The center was founded by St. John Paul's former personal secretary, Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz who later succeeded St. John Paul II as Archbishop of Krakow. It is a beautiful center with a museum and a church ... the cassock St. John Paul was wearing during the assassination attempt is located there.

There's the image of Divine Mercy in the center, St. John Paul II on the left and St. Faustina on the right.

Fr. Henry celebrated Mass in a chapel below the Sanctuary. A very nice space. He recounted St. Faustina's instructions from Jesus and how well documented they are in her diary. He also noted that St. Faustina did not speak any other language than Polish, so Jesus must speak Polish! He said that he expected everyone to be able to say, "Jesus, I trust in You" in Polish by the end of the pilgrimage: "Jezu Ufam Tobie".

It was nice for them to meet Fr Henry’s 16 year old nephew who traveled 3 hours by train from his home to see his uncle, Fr. Henry! And his nephew served as his altar server at mass.
