Essential Worker has been in our vocabulary recently under this COVID times. However, because of this weekend, it made me realize something more profound about the term “essential worker.”
I am a mother of three – therefore, I am an Essential Worker. I became their Essential Worker from the moment I held them in my arms for the very first time. My work with my children is so essential to ensure their survival as babies by nurturing them, to guard and guide as they grow up, and with constancy, never ever letting up in loving them no matter what. They are all grown up now – thank God we all survived those teenage years!!! Oh yes, there were difficult times but there were also many beautiful and wonderful times and although there were many lessons learned along the way there are also many more very bright and awe-inspiring memories that we can still create in the future. Just like right now – we can all still look forward to the future – past this Shelter-in-Place, past this pandemic.
All mothers are essential to the lives of their children. For all of you who are mothers, please always remember how important and special you are. You are truly the ultimate Essential Worker.
For those of you who are fathers – please treat the mother of your children in an extra special and creative way this weekend. You can not just bring her out to a restaurant, you know. You will have your turn next month.
