Youth Music Weekend

Hello everyone! 

Thabk you for joining us for this exciting event to celebrate Mom and the rich musical heritage of FBC Murphy.

We’re a week and a half away from the big day. We’d like to get a more accurate count on volunteer singers. Truett Camp singers, former students of BettySue Cowan, any choir singers, please send me a DM to confirm you’ll be singing with us on Saturday and/or Sunday. We need more accurate numbers to plan for food, water, etc.

I hope you’re enjoying practicing with the music at home. It’s going to be a glorious weekend of musical worship. Please reach out to me if you have had any troubles viewing the music or listening to the playlist. The links for the music packs and playlist are in the post with the flyer, which I would ask that you please share the post again so the word gets out appropriately. Please reach out by phone to those you know would love to attend. There are lots of special guests coming in who would love to see you!

We’ve decided to shorten the rehearsal to 11am-3pm on Saturday with a lunch provided at the church. If you practice at home, we should be able to pull the anthems together nicely on Saturday when we rehearse with piano, organ, trumpet, and flute. 

We still need help for the pot luck supper after Sunday morning worship. I’ll make a separate post discussing details.

We’re grateful for your participation in this special weekend. Mom’s getting excited, and so are we.

Good day!

I hope you all are well. We are so very excited for you to join together with us in song on Saturday Nov. 1 & Sunday Nov. 2 (If you’re able to be there on Sunday morning) for Brenda Worley's 50th Anniversary Celebration as organist at First Baptist Church, Murphy, NC.

We are blessed to have special musical guests Ray Harris, John Tagliarini, and Lindsey Cope as guest conductors for this special occasion.

We will have rehearsal on Saturday from 10a.m.- 4p.m. with breaks in between and lunch provided at noon. It will be a glorious day of fellowship and music making culminating with a 6pm concert that same evening with refreshments in the fellowship hall afterward. If your schedules allow, please return to join us in song for Sunday morning worship the next day, in which former Pastor Woodrow Busch will preach the sermon.

If you know of any singers who wish to join us, please extend the invitation. We especially need mens voices.

Please find the attached files which contain a total of 8 choral pieces in the Google Drive link below. There are four anthems in each Music Pack pdf. I’ve included "It Is Well" separately as it appears smaller in the first music pack pdf.

Please print the music packs or download them to your tablet and bring them along with you. This will allow you to make your own markings before we meet. We will have octavos onsite that day should anyone forget.

Unfortunately, the church is no longer hosting us for our May retreat.
