Every Wednesday, Hayesville First serves around 500 meals to anyone in the community who walks through the door.

Since March 2013, the Gathering at the Gathering Place has grown from 60 people sharing soup and salad into one of Clay County's most impactful community ministries. This year alone, the ministry will serve approximately 24,000 meals, purchase food from five local farms, and has been awarded $35,000 in grants.

The numbers only tell part of the story. It's the foster mother feeding five children, the elderly widow stretching a fixed income, the young man going back through the line because he doesn't know where his next meal is coming from, that's who this ministry is for.

"Our goal is to serve our guests like they are part of our family."

Easter Sunrise Service at the Lake

Hinton Rural Life Center invites the community to gather for Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 5 at 6:45 a.m. at the Lakeside Pavilion, 2330 Hinton Center Road in Hayesville.

As dawn breaks over the water, we will join together for worship, reflection, and celebration of Easter morning in a peaceful outdoor setting. This annual tradition offers a meaningful way to begin the day surrounded by beauty and community.

Parking at the pavilion is limited. Shuttle service from Hinton’s main parking lot will run from 6:15 a.m. to 6:35 a.m., and guests are encouraged to arrive early. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved indoors to the Hinton Chapel.

This service is hosted in partnership with Hayesville First United Methodist Church, Oak Forest UMC, and Hickory Stand UMC.
