God made man and woman to work together, yet differently.

"Then the Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper corresponding to him'...So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to come over the man, and he slept. God took one of his ribs and closed the flesh at that place. Then the Lord God made the rib he had taken from the man into a woman and brought her to the man. And the man said: This one, at last, is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; this one will be called 'woman,' for she was taken from man. This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh." Genesis 1:18, 21-24

Man was made to do God's work with Him.

He doesn't need us; He wants us.

"God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth.'" Genesis 1:28

Man was made to be in fellowship with God. God wanted a different relationship with man.

"So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female." Genesis 1:27

John Heading serves as the state director of Ohio Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. He coordinates deployment efforts and guides the ministry to serve more effectively. As a chaplain endorsed by the Southern Baptist Convention, John also deploys with teams to care for volunteers and minister to residents impacted by disaster.

His role includes assessing emotional and spiritual needs, offering comfort, and sharing the hope of the Gospel. The most rewarding part of his ministry is seeing lives changed, not just through physical help, but through spiritual transformation.

“Recently, the home of Amy and her family was flooded,” John shared. “Everything had to be removed and thrown into two large dumpsters. It was a big loss; however, by the end of the day, Amy gave her life to Christ. Her request was to learn how to follow Christ and for her husband’s salvation.”

Your prayers and gifts through the Cooperative Program help people in crisis across North America experience the love of Christ. Pray that many more people will put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ through leaders like John.
