What’s this guy doing shooting his rifle in our Hawthorne Reformed Church cemetery?!

He’s an historic re-enactor, one of several including Hudson Valley’s master storyteller, Jonathan Kruk, who shared stories of the birth of Mount Pleasant and our great USA 🇺🇸— during and after the U.S. Revolutionary War.

It was all part of the Town of Mount Pleasant’s 250 Years of America Celebration, hosted by the Daughters of Liberty.

We welcomed a great crowd, young and not-so young, for the presentation, cemetery tour, and meet-and-greet with lunch.

So great to see you all! Pop on over again … like on a Sunday morning at 10 a.m., why don’t ya? 😉

The message is based on Luke 24:13-35. Jesus helped the disciples see a pattern for us to emulate.

📖: Open the scripture to make sense of life and God’s mercy.
🍽️: Gather for a meal. Be nourished by God.
🙌 Partner in God’s work and share God’s grace.

There are many reasons to come to church and worship, two of which are to say to God two words we teach our children: Please and Thank you.

Liz was born in 1776 — the year our country was born, when our 13 colonies said byyyyyye to Great Britain, adopted the Declaration of Independence and the peak of the early Revolutionary War.

Can you imagine?!?!

You won’t have to when you attend our Saturday (noon tomorrow, 4/18) event celebrating 250 years of the USA: Colonial Mount Pleasant with Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk.

Learn about your town and what was happening HERE in 1776 (besides baby Liz) during the American Revolutionary War. Stand in the footsteps of your colonial neighbors as you hear their stories, many who fought for the liberty we enjoy today.

There will be a presentation, a cemetery tour, then refreshments and a meet-and-greet with your colonial neighbors. It’s brought to you by the Daughters of Liberty’s Legacy.

It’s at our Hawthorne Reformed Church (born in 1818), at 65 Broadway, Hawthorne, at 12 noon, Saturday, April 18.
