This past Sunday, Pastor Anthony brought us a wonderful message as we kicked off our first Church in the Park service of the season. It was a special day as we celebrated more than 25 people publicly declaring their faith through baptism!
Preaching from Matthew 28, Pastor Anthony emphasized Jesus' call to "go." Christianity is not meant to be lived passively. As followers of Christ, we are called to go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Drawing from Romans 1:16–17, he reminded us that we cannot be ashamed of the Gospel. We are called to live on mission, boldly sharing the good news of Jesus wherever God places us.
Pastor Anthony also reminded us that Jesus did not come to call the righteous, but sinners. He is still calling people to Himself today. Through Christ, we are cleansed, transformed, and made new. As Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, anyone who is in Christ is a new creation—the old has gone, and the new has come.
He closed with a challenge from Romans 10:9 and Romans 10:14–15, reminding us that if people are to call on the name of the Lord and be saved, they must first hear the Gospel. As the Church, we have been entrusted with that message.
