Hi friends!

I’m sharing specific information about our November and December distributions. November is our busiest month each year, followed closely by December. We normally provide assistance for 40-45 families each month, but in November and December we prepare for 60 families, and sometimes more families come to our door. I thought you might appreciate a head start on our needs, in case you are considering to help our food bank.

Here’s the list of what we pack in our bags.

1 breakfast item (cereal, instant oatmeal, or pancake mix)
1 rice side or bag of rice
1 box mac and cheese
1 box pasta
1 pasta sauce (no glass bottles, please)
1-10 oz. canned meat (chicken preferred, but tuna is okay)
1-16 oz. peanut butter
1 canned fruit
1 hearty soup (i.e. Campbell’s Chunky or Progresso)
1 can beans (kidney, garbanzo, black, or cannellini)
1 bar of soap
1 toilet paper roll

I’ve priced out this bag at a usual grocery store and it costs in the $25 range.
*Please consider shopping for a family; purchase these items, put them in a box/bag, and drop them off at the food bank.

FYI … our families also receive a bag of fresh produce and bread items.

**We supplement the bags when finances and donations make it possible. Here’s our supplemental list.

laundry detergent
tooth brushes/tooth paste
shampoo
deodorant
fruit juice
cooking oil
shelf-stable milk

1. As always, we will accept any in-date food and hygiene items you wish to donate.

2. Monetary donations are also helpful so we can shop for what we need most. Checks (made out to Hope Food Bank) may be mailed to the address listed above, or are accepted at the door when volunteers are present.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, as I will gladly assist you.

Thank you for helping us support folks in food-compromised situations. YOU are the blessing that enables us to bless our clients with the help they need.

* The food bank is open every Saturday from
10:00-11:30 a.m. for in-person donations (Dependent upon weather conditions and volunteer availability.)
*There is a box outside our door for 24/7 donations.

As we continue to recognize National Bullying Prevention Month, we encourage our families and staff to wear orange on October 21st in celebration of Unity Day. Together, we can promote kindness, inclusion, and a commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone.

Unity Day was created "to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying." We will be celebrating Unity Day on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. We are asking everyone to wear orange on this day as a "tangible representation of the supportive, universal message that our society wants to prevent bullying, and is united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion." Did you know the color of a child’s pumpkin basket may mean something?
A blue pumpkin may be used to let others know a child is autistic and may communicate, react, or trick or treat differently.
A teal pumpkin is associated with food allergy awareness and can signal the need for allergy friendly or non food treats.
A purple pumpkin may be used to represent epilepsy awareness.
This Halloween, a little patience and kindness can go a long way. Not every child will say “trick or treat,” make eye contact, wear a costume, or be able to eat every piece of candy.
Different doesn’t mean they deserve a different Halloween.
