First Church of Christ

First Church of Christ Come be a part of the life and ministry of the First Church of Christ - Bradford It further acknowledges as kindred in Christ all who share this confession.

First Church of Christ, Bradford (gathered in 1682) exists to be…
Rooted in The Bible: First Church of Christ acknowledges as its sole Head, Jesus Christ, and holds as truth the doctrine of the Trinity: God as Father and Creator, Jesus as the Son and Savior, and the Holy Spirit as Guide and Comforter. It adheres to the Word of God in Scriptures and in the direction of the Holy Spirit to prosper

its redemptive mission in the world. Connected to the Past: It claims as its own the faith of the historic Church expressed in the ancient creeds and reclaimed in the basic insights of the Protestant Reformers. Relevant in the Present: It accepts the responsibility to make this faith its own in the reality of worship and in the expression of its mission and ministry locally and into the world. In accordance with the teachings of Jesus, it recognizes two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion. Its very existence is to serve God by providing all people an opportunity for Christian worship, education, fellowship, pastoral care and mission within the spirit of Christian love. Hopeful for the Future: As we continue to live by faith in the precious promises of God's Grace that are in Christ, we trust that the Lord will guide us a we move forward and bless our future, as He has our 300+ years past! Soli Deo Gloria! All Glory and Honor to our God, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

So much for the glory, power & stymie of the resurrection of Jesus. Seems like radio silence on churches social media platforms. Is the resurrection of Jesus meant by God to be a once-a-year Awe! … then p**f, gone firework? Or is it the air we breathe in the Christian life. (Same holds true for Christmas & Good Friday). Do some church calendars help or hinder the Christian life? I think can hinder, because it can neglect the daily, consistent reminders of the need and sufficiency of the death & resurrection of Jesus, which are much more prominent in the scriptures than in our once-a-year big celebration this week, then silence all the other 51. Let’s see the consistency of the “It Is Finished / Out the Grave” message of the death & resurrection of Jesus throughout the rest of the New Testament.

Here @ FCCBradford we do not tuck the coming (Christmas), the life, the death (Good Friday) and the resurrection (Easter) of Jesus away until next year. We live in the life, death & resurrection, which is the power of the gospel… as the anthem. We live in these because the early Christians lived in these. There is no record of a once a year celebration of things so big.
In Christ Alone heralds: “here in the love of Christ, I stand” “Here in the death of Christ, I live” “Up from the grave He rose again/bought with the precious blood of Christ” “Here in the power of Christ, I stand”.

Psalm 91
”Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”“
