Sunday Reflection
Last Thursday at Mission Point we talked about something that often gets overlooked in faith.
Many of us begin with intensity.
Strong opinions. Big emotions. A lot of certainty.
But faith doesn’t stay there forever.
Over time it changes.
It deepens.
It softens.
It listens more than it argues.
Some of us started with fire.
Some of us got burned along the way.
Wherever you find yourself now, you’re not alone in the journey.
Faith grows up.

I’ve noticed something in my own faith.
I love the idea of strength. Certainty. Authority.
The “Lion” version of Jesus.
But if I’m honest…
the version of Jesus that has changed me most
has been the Lamb.
The One who surrenders.
The One who absorbs pain instead of overpowering it.
The One who chooses humility over force.
If you’ve ever been hurt by loud religion,
I get it.
This week we talked about a different kind of strength —
surrendered strength.
Where in your life are you trying to roar…
when maybe you’re being invited to trust?

**UPDATE** After the line of duty death of Master Trooper Stien Davis Jr. on February 22, 2026, he leaves behind a soon to be one-year-old son. A tragedy account has been set up for donations at the State Employees' Credit Union. Donations can be made by using account number 64802018 at any local branch.

Member Line of Duty Death: Master Trooper Stien Davis

Dear Patrol Family,

It is with deepest sadness that I inform you of a member’s on duty passing. Master Trooper Stien Davis, Jr. (Troop B, District 7, Robeson County) was involved in a single vehicle collision shortly after midnight this morning and was pronounced deceased.

The initial reports are that he was on duty and traveling in his patrol vehicle when he lost control of his vehicle, traveled off the road and overturned in a swampy roadside area while on NC 130. The specifics related to the cause of the collision are under investigation at this time.

Master Trooper Davis was a member of the 141st Basic Patrol School and served our state and the Robeson County area with distinction. Any forthcoming details related to his passing as well as information related to a celebration of life ceremony will be shared as we move forward.
