I appreciate the recognition by our church and pastor of the importance of "praying for those who are in authority". How refreshing, and sobering, to not only understand our responsibility as christians but to also do it. What a blessing!

Why we do not want HB2 repealed?
1. The City of Charlotte’s repeal is contingent upon the repeal of HB2. There has been no full, “no strings attached”, repeal of the Charlotte ordinance. This appears to be a local government trying to control the General Assembly.
2. If HB2 is repealed, what prevents Charlotte or another city from enacting a similar ordinance? In fact, North Carolina Values Coalition stated, “If HB2 is repealed, Charlotte and other cities in North Carolina have indicated they will immediately work with the Human Rights Campaign to enact similar ordinances that jeopardize the privacy and safety of our families and our freedom to live and work according to our deeply held beliefs.” Remember it is SOGI (Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity) ordinances that are being used to fine business owners for standing for their beliefs.
3. If HB2 is repealed, and a city were to enact a similar ordinance as Charlotte’s, it would be difficult to garner the support for another bill like HB2.
4. If HB2 is repealed, it ends NC's definition of gender as pertaining to your gender on your birth certificate.
5. Repeal of HB2 also eliminates the state's clarification of what constitutes discrimination, opening the door for any municipality to create its own definition.
6. Backing down on righteous legislation is a slippery slope that has no end.

The 2 billion dollar bond that was voted on in the primary was to be for roads, but not one dollar went to roads. This bill would put $490 million of it to roads. Many legislators do not want to move the money from UNC. If you think the money should go toward roads contact your representative and senator and let them know you agree with HB1106.
