What are we afraid of in this life, what scares us or puts a fear in us we can't shake? A list could go like this, sickness, jobless, pain, storms, popularity or lack of, provisions, loss of or ability to acquire, safety or security, being alone, and we could carry on for pages what we as finite human beings have a fear of. Why?
Look what we face every day in advertising and viewing in our daily lives. 68% of television's commercials are from pharmaceutical companies telling us medical problems and what we need, a large percent of other is from lawyers telling us what we deserve from "accidents", another percentage is fast food we really don't need, and more to entice us into sin or things we normally wouldn't think about. I really don't like commercials! We are a society of dependency. The story of supply and demands or out of sight out of mind. But in our case its in sight so always on our mind. How many can name a lawyer or a drug from advertising on TV? Now how many can quote 3 scriptures from the Bible, or name the majority of books in the Bible, or how many old or new testament books there are?
Let me help. There are 66 books in the Bible, the same as chapters in Isaiah, 39 old testament, and 27 new testament.
Now a few scriptures:2 Timothy 1:7, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind". Roman 8:31b,"If God is for us who can be against us?" Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain". Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Psalm 121 starts out, "I will lift up my eyes to the hills - From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth", I encourage you to read the rest. And finally Romans 8:38-39, "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of
God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord".
O death where is your sting, what do we fear? Proverbs 1:7, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction".
How have we spent our quarantine?
Love in Christ
