Worship with us during Holy Week. Everyone is welcome!

- PALM SUNDAY SERVICES We will celebrate Palm Sunday on March 29 by waving palm branches in both the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. services to commemorate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Our children will take part in a palm processional before the 10:45 a.m. service.

- MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE On Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m., we will gather in the Sanctuary to celebrate Holy Communion together, just as Jesus held the Last Supper with his disciples. We will reflect on Jesus’ love for us and his commandment to love one another.

- TENEBRAE SERVICE On Good Friday, April 3, a Tenebrae Service will take place at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. As this service progresses, the light will be extinguished, and we will be surrounded by darkness to remind us of the dark day of Jesus’ crucifixion.

- EASTER SERVICES Alleluia, He is risen! Celebrate the resurrection! On Sunday, April 5, our contemporary service will take place at 8:30 a.m. in Founders Hall, and our traditional service will be held at 10:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Invite someone to come with you!

A nursery will be available during all services, and children are also welcome in our worship services.

Prayer Chapel Dedication: This Week!

Sunday, March 22
9:30 a.m. in the Atrium

Join us for a service and reception to dedicate our new Prayer Chapel, following the early service THIS Sunday, March 22. The dedication will conclude with communion in the new chapel and cake in the Atrium. This beautiful space was made possible thanks to a generous donation by Craig Wiseman in memory of his mother, Evelyn Wiseman.

Following this service, we will celebrate holy communion in the Prayer Chapel every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome to participate.

CAREGIVERS CORNER

Caregivers — this one’s for you.

As the days grow shorter and the house feels quieter in the evenings, memory lapses can stand out more; use these practical steps to separate normal aging from changes that need attention. ❄️

1. Recognize typical age-related changes: occasional word-finding trouble, temporarily forgetting why someone entered a room, misplacing items you can retrace, taking longer to learn new things, and needing to write things down.

2. Encourage the use of memory aids like detailed calendars, lists, and phone reminders, because these tools are strategic supports, not signs of decline.

3. Watch for warning signs that deserve attention, including getting lost in familiar places, losing track mid-conversation, forgetting recent events entirely, asking the same question repeatedly, trouble with familiar tasks, poor judgment, or social withdrawal.

4. Keep a simple log with dates and specific examples of what happened to document patterns rather than relying on memory alone.

5. Use the ABCS framework—Activities, Behavior, Communication, Safety—to monitor changes across daily life rather than focusing on single incidents.

6. Under Activities, check whether familiar daily tasks (cooking, managing finances, hobbies, home care, and medications) can still be completed as before.

7. Under Behavior, note personality shifts, increased confusion about time or place, new irritability, anxiety, depression, suspiciousness about missing items, or withdrawal from social situations.

8. Under Communication, look for more difficulty finding words, following conversations, or expressing thoughts, and for others frequently asking the person to repeat themselves.

9. Under Safety, look for unsafe patterns such as wandering/getting lost, repeatedly leaving the stove on, neglecting personal hygiene, or making risky financial decisions—focus on patterns, not single mistakes.

10. If you see changes across multiple ABCS areas, or if any single area shows significant progression, schedule a medical evaluation; sudden changes over days or weeks require urgent attention.

11. Bring your documented log to medical appointments and be specific about incidents (dates, what happened, who noticed, context) so doctors can evaluate patterns rather than a one-off visit.

Bonus tip: Remember that many memory problems have reversible causes—medication side effects, vitamin B12 deficiency, thyroid problems, depression, sleep apnea, and dehydration—so early evaluation can identify treatable issues.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

As one of the Lenten disciplines, we encourage our congregation to pray. Starting at 9 p.m. on Good Friday, April 3, through Quiet Saturday, April 4, and ending at midnight on Easter Sunday, April 5, we will hold 24+ hours of prayer. We would love to have someone praying during each hour. (You don't have to pray for the entire hour... just for as long as you are comfortable and able.)

Please sign up for a time slot on the posters in the Atrium at church or email [email protected] to let us know what time you can pray. It's okay if we have several people praying at the same time.

You are welcome and encouraged to pray for anything and in any way. However, if you’d like a guide to help you as you pray, you can utilize the Lenten worship series booklet to find suggested scripture and prayers. These can be found at parkwayheights.org/lent.

Some additional ideas for prayer:
- To be a peacemaker and for peace in our world
- For God to bring new life and light to those in darkness
- That the Church will remain steadfast and focused on the message of Jesus

What better way to prepare for Easter than spending time with our Lord in prayer?

WORSHIP FOR TODAY

Today's scripture text on this 4th Sunday of Lent is John 9:1-25. Join his for worship at 8:30 a.m. (contemporary) or 10:45 a.m. (traditional). The story of the blind man that was healed by Jesus is a powerful example of somebody that obeyed God and was blessed.
