Backpack Buddies is a ministry of Crosspoint Community Church that seeks to provide food to kids in our community who have little access to food at home.

ATTN: No Backpack Buddies this Friday 5/19/17. It's the last week of school and with the kids schedule it want be time.
We will still be collecting food ( check dates ) and school supplies so we will be ready when school starts back.

It's that time again !! Friday 5/12/2017 be at Crosspoint Church to pack bags at 8:30 AM. We only have one more week and the kids will be out for the summer. We are asking if you can to bring extra food supplies for next Friday. That will be the last week and we are going to pack the bags with extra food if we can. And I know with the loving church family we have at Crosspoint WE CAN DO DO IT!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has donated so far!!! The food we take to the Backpack Buddies come almost entirely from food and financial donations by you and we have had more food donations this month than any month this school year!!!

If you want to take advantage of these great deals at Sam's hurry up!!! They go off sale on Monday so this is the last weekend!!!

We have received word on our Backpack Buddies!!!

Many of them made it through the storm fine but there WERE several who's families and homes were severely affected. A lot of you have been asking what you can do and specific needs right now for these families include hygiene products, cleaning supplies and diapers.

Another big need is cash donations. Some of our Backpack Buddies are part of larger families that lost their home completely and do not have a safe place to stay right now. Understandably some mom's are afraid to stay in the packed shelters with their kids, especially their young girls. The school has already taken up enough money to put these families in a hotel for a couple nights but more is definitely needed! Any money donated would be given directly to the school counselor to make sure the ones who need it most are taken care of.

We will be delivering bags this Friday for the kids like usual and I would love for us to have a whole lot more to bring than food!

All donations can be dropped off at Crosspoint Church on Highway 589 or at Elite Screen Printing on North 40th Avenue. Or, please call Tina (601-596-2685) or Davis (601-596-2506) and we will come to you!

While watching and dealing with the aftermath of the deadly tornado that ripped through town this morning, please say a prayer for the kids in Backpack Buddies. The tornado went through the area many of these kids live. We've seen some of them on the news talking about how scared they were but was proud to also see them talking about how they were praying during the tornado. Please pray that all of them were able to stay safe and pray for their immediate future as some of them may have gone from having very little to having nothing. Since we do not have regular contact with them outside of through the school, it will be several days before we know how all the kids fared.

For anyone who wants to help purchase food for Backpack Buddies and get a great deal, here are some of the items we use that are on sale this month at Sam's! Specifically we would love for as many people as possible to help purchase the Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Cups. We go through 10-15 cases a month but can only purchase 5 at the sale price of $2.75 off per case (which is a great deal). If we could get 10 people to donate 5 cases we could have the rest of the semester taken care of!!! All donations can be dropped off at Crosspoint Community Church on Hwy 589 or let us know here and we'll come pick it up!

The best thing about going to Sam's to stock up for Backpack Buddies is occasionally people will comment on all the food we are getting and it gives us a chance to share with them about Backpack Buddies and what God is doing through this ministry and our church. Tonight a wonderful gentlemen, Dr. John Frisk, commented about our shopping cart and we got to talking. Turns out he used teach at Rowan back when it was a high school. After talking and joking a while he wished us good luck and even made a donation to the ministry. God is good!!!

We are late posting these but we wanted to share some pictures of the last time we saw the kids before Christmas. We were able to provide all the kids with scarves, gloves and comfy socks! We were also able to give them all a Christmas present thanks to a wonderful kid in our church who asked for guests to bring toys for Backpack Buddies instead of himself at his recent birthday party. The sacrifice so many people made leading up to Christmas helped us bless these kids greatly before they let out for Christmas break. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in that blessing!

The schedule for this week will be Thursday the 15th. Be at CrossPoint church at 8:30 to pack bags. Then we will meet at Rowan at 9:15 to pass out the bags.
