From The Pastor’s Desk (an excerpt from our bulletin)
We look around us and see the descent of our world, and even more apparent, our nation, into depravity and away from the Lord. What has led to this? Quite simply, man’s natural disposition to sin. We are not taken by surprise by this, because we know this is man’s natural inclination. But it does surprise me when we see it so prevalent in the “churches” of America. It seems that to grow a church in today’s culture, you must compromise the hard truth about sin and sanctification. Faithfulness to God and His Word should never be laid aside for the sake of growing the church.
I know it must be hard for those who saw this church in its days of growth and strong numbers, to now see it as it is. So many saints and faithful servants now passed on to glory or having moved on to serve at other places; or perhaps having abandoned the faith altogether. Who says we can’t see numbers like that again. I don’t believe that high numbers, whether regarding attendance or finances, are an accurate mark of a strong church. Rather, the church members present now, being strong in the faith and standing boldly for the Lord, are what makes a strong church. A faithful church.
If we remain faithful, and continue loving and serving the Lord, He will add to His church, if He wills it. Are we doing so?
Faithfully Serving Together ‘til His Return,
Bro. Christian
