From our August Newsletter…

On a family trip we found ourselves on the Canadian Lake Huron shoreline. We were within driving distance from Rock Glen Conservation Area, which is known for its large concentration of fossils dating over 350 million years ago! It did not disappoint, and we all found a piece of ancient history to take home. It was right up their alley for my young boys, and admittedly sparked a little of that wonder in myself.
I was left, however, thinking about the lasting impact these creatures unknowingly have had on generations of people. The things we say and do often have impact beyond what we may ever see. As Christians, we strive to change the world for Christ by revealing His love to others. Just as many of our faith
heroes did not live to see their worldwide impact, we may not always know the effect our lives have. But, we trust in God that His word does not return void and our obedience will bring a harvest, whether tomorrow or in generations to come.

From our July Newsletter…

“I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth.” Gen. 9:13

God is faithful! May we be reminded of that again and again. When life brings great joys, and when we weather terrible storms, God’s faithfulness and goodness remain the same. His love is constant, and we can rest in knowing that we are His.

At the end of the school year a few students and their families gathered for a cookout and some party games. Already seems like a long time ago! Looking forward to meeting up again at the youth worship night on Sunday, located at Hastings Church of the Nazarene!

From our June Newsletter…

Our family has navigated 3 tough losses in the past 6 months, and I know we’re not the only ones to walk difficult seasons. Loss, division, and anger, (to only name a few) are everywhere, and are signs of a broken world. However, if we keep our eyes open, there are still wonders to marvel at that point to God’s goodness, His life, and His constant work of making things new. As I pulled off the grill cover this spring, I was greeted by an unexpected nest occupied by 2 baby squirrels. After my
initial disappointment passed, I had to smile and just enjoy the presence of new life. In spite of this world’s trials, we look for signs of God’s goodness. In this instance I am thankful for the flourishing of His creation.
Our challenge: in the face of what might seem wrong, look for what goes right, and give thanks to Him. -Matt

“Don’t you ever wonder why
In spite of all that’s wrong here
There’s still so much that goes so right
And beauty abounds?” -A. Peterson
