From our June Newsletter…

Our family has navigated 3 tough losses in the past 6 months, and I know we’re not the only ones to walk difficult seasons. Loss, division, and anger, (to only name a few) are everywhere, and are signs of a broken world. However, if we keep our eyes open, there are still wonders to marvel at that point to God’s goodness, His life, and His constant work of making things new. As I pulled off the grill cover this spring, I was greeted by an unexpected nest occupied by 2 baby squirrels. After my
initial disappointment passed, I had to smile and just enjoy the presence of new life. In spite of this world’s trials, we look for signs of God’s goodness. In this instance I am thankful for the flourishing of His creation.
Our challenge: in the face of what might seem wrong, look for what goes right, and give thanks to Him. -Matt

From our May newsletter…

I’m fortunate to have been to Niagara Falls numerous times, due to location and proximity to my alma mater and extended family. However, it’s only ever been for a day trip or a quick overnight. I recently was able to take a long weekend and spend more time in the area exploring both the Canadian and US sides. The attractions and activities are fun, but of course in the end the falls is the main course. It’s impossible to stand there and not be struck by the grandeur and the power as hundreds of thousands of gallons crash over the cliffs every second.
I believe one way we experience God is through nature, and in this moment I am reminded of God’s power and His eternal nature. As the falls can be harnessed for great good, God’s love moves toward redemption of the world and good for those who love Him, but the justice of either can be unimaginable. And as the water seems to continually flow with no end, God has always been, always will be, and His love endures forever.

From our April Newsletter…

One of the offerings at the youth bash is a time of prayer and worship through song. This year we set up in a classroom corner with low lighting and a guitar. It is not mandated and students only enter in if they choose.
Our spiritual lives are often the same. Yes, there are times when God may directly get our attention. More often, in my experience, we need to make the decision to put aside the distractions of the world and choose to seek Him. God wants our hearts, and He wants us to choose Him on our own account. Sometimes, it’s really hard to do! Even still, we were made to be in relationship with our creator and He is the greater than anything else in the world. Seek out some time to spend with God- and do it soon!

Comments were counted and Moana & Zootopia advance to the final! It was SUPER close, with each match only being decided by one vote.

Voting closes for the final on Tuesday, April 7 at 9pm! Since there was no youth group this evening students need to vote online if they want to have input!
