Update on Crosses For Ukraine

We are so excited to announce that 600 of our palm crosses with scripture have made their way into Ukraine! What a thrilling accomplishment and honor to spread the gospel to others, especially those who are in such need of hearing it.

Our project has been such a rewarding experience, so much so, that the youth want to continue on. We are now spreading the gospel throughout our community as well as abroad, and we have already started! We’ve visited a memory care facility, and made a home visit, one where we stood outside the home of a convalescent next to a window to recite scripture and of course left a cross behind..a reminder to them of Gods continual presence in there life. We have also planned a visit in the near future to Good Samaritan Village, and are looking to do more! Any suggestions are welcomed!

We have even recited Psalm 23 to a woman while in a sheep pen amongst a flock of sheep, so we are pretty open as to where God sends us. I must admit the sheep visit was so lovely and pictorial, similar to a biblical picture….I’ll never forget it nor her!

Our crosses have traveled within the states, they are in Washington, Arizona, Colorado, and of course Nebraska!

We have expanded the look of our crosses, they are now being crafted into necklaces! Two stores are carrying them, a big thank you to Donna and Bryan Bieck at Special Scoops and Cheryl Buhr of Third Street Hair Studio.
We thank you so much!

Please pray for us for guidance as we continue to do Gods work…..

We are also inviting the community to come out on Saturday October 8th to The Baptist Burrito event! (And taco’s too!) Children as well as adults are welcome to join in the fun, come craft a cross with us we’d love it!

First Baptist Sunday School class crafting crosses for Ukraine.

All are invited this Saturday June 25 from 11am-2pm to come and be a part of this project!
Baptist Burger Event also going on so come and enjoy lunch with us also!

Ukraine Cross Project

Our children’s Sunday school class ages 8-12 have always held the belief that no matter how young we are we can make a difference in the lives of other people, in our own family, church, our community even in other states, but what about those in other countries?
What about those who have suffered devastating losses like Ukraine?

We challenged ourselves and made this our mission to somehow find a way of offering hope and relief to these people.
Eventually, with a lot of creative thinking we came up with the idea to send palm crosses. We would craft crosses out of popsicle sticks, apply paint and wire beads on.
How these crosses would reach Ukraine was our next obstacle. We reached out to local churches, The Salvation Army and congregation members who worked very hard on our behalf to make this happen.
We knew God had a plan for us and lo and behold we ended up with not ONE but TWO organizations that will deliver our crosses directly to Ukraine!

Along with the crosses we really felt the need to send scripture…..the children’s Sunday school class had just finished memorizing Psalm Chapter 23 so we took a long look at this chapter, of how it speaks of Gods constant loving care, and decided whatever their need may be this was a good chapter to remind them of God’s continual presence in there life. Ukraine Bookmarks were made and attached to the crosses. The children also sign and list their age on the back of the bookmark so each recipient knows who made their cross.

You are never to young to make a difference!
