Scripture: Romans 6:12-23; Matthew 10:40-42
Sermon: “Receiving Christ the Ordinary”

Jesus tells His disciples that when people receive them, they are actually receiving Him—and not just Him, but God the Father. That’s a staggering claim. It means that our everyday interactions carry eternal weight. The way we treat others—especially those who come in Christ’s name—is not just social courtesy. It is spiritual response.

Scripture: Jeremiah 20:7-13; Psalm 69:7-10; Romans 6:1b-11; Matthew 10:24-39

Sermon: "Dying to What Diminishes Life, Rising to What Gives Life”

Romans 6 is one of Paul’s most powerful images of transformation. It is about death and resurrection — not only after we die someday, but right now, in this life. Paul is asking: What must die in us so that something more loving, more whole, more Christlike can live?

Sermon: “The Main Thing is to Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing!”

We welcome Rev. Jeff Cooper, recently retired TAABA pastor of Ashland Baptist Church, to the pulpit! Jesus came so that we might have life and have it abundantly, now, and in eternity. He made it very clear that the only way for that to happen is through him. The church's primary task has never changed, to share the gospel, which is the power of God for salvation through Jesus alone.

We welcome Guest Preacher, Rev. Dawn Balduf!
Sermon: “One Kingdom, One King, One Mission”

God’s purpose runs throughout Scriptures. We didn’t invent it, and it isn’t at risk based on our actions. Yet, God does ask us to participate in this mission, and God gives us clear instruction on what answering God’s call should look like. We will consider how this looks for the Church and for each of us individually. Pastor Dawn will be sharing some of her insights from a trip to the US/Mexico border in January as well as a recent one month trip to Back Bay Mission.

We had a full house in the basement on Sunday for Pancake Worship! Thank you to all who helped make a delicious breakfast for us to enjoy. Following, adults filled two tables working with Sue to make Prayer beads for use with our upcoming worship series in July and August.

Worship: May 31st at 10 a.m.
Trinity Sunday and Pancake and Praise Worship!

Worship will be held in the social hall at 10 am. We will share in a shortened worship with songs, scriptures, and praise. Then while sharing in fellowship and pancakes, congregants will be given time to share their thoughts and reflections on specific topics and issues. Then we will gather back together to share our learnings! Children, youth and adults are all welcome to participate! This is a great Sunday to invite a friend, co-worker, or family member to HCC! Please note that due to worship being held downstairs, we will not have a livestream.

Worship: Sunday, May 24th at 10 a.m., Pentecost Sunday
Sermon: “Courage to Begin Again"

Pentecost arrives not as a quiet moment, but as an interruption. In Acts, it comes like a rush of wind, like tongues of fire, like a sudden eruption of sound and speech and understanding. In John’s Gospel, it is quieter—but no less powerful. There, the risen Christ enters a locked room full of fear, breathes on the disciples, and says, “Peace be with you.” We also will be honoring those who have served in our military on this Memorial Day Sunday.
