FOMD Church

FOMD Church The Fellowship of Messianic Disciples is a Holy Spirit led Messianic Jewish Congregation dedicated to serving God through the principles taught in the Bible.

You will experience lively praise and worship, anointed sermons and teachings of the Word of God. We do not trace our roots back to the Catholic Church or one of the many Protestant Churches. We are a Christian Church modeled after the Church of Acts in the Holy Bible. We are called to transform individuals and families with the love and power of Yeshua (Jesus Christ). We desire to see you walk in complete healing in your mind, body and spirit and implement the calling of God in your life.

Sermon title: Tempest

There are moments in life when the storm feels louder than everything else.
The waves rise.
The wind howls.
And fear starts to speak.

In Matthew 8:23–27, the disciples thought they were going to perish… while Yeshua slept.
But with just a word, He rebuked the wind and the sea, and everything became still.

The storm didn’t have the final say.
Faith did.

Scripture reminds us:
• If we ask in faith without doubting, it will be done
(Matthew 21)
• Doubt makes us like waves—tossed and unstable
(James 1:6–8)
• Even faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains
(Matthew 17:20)

But we are not just called to have faith—
👉 We are called to SPEAK in faith.

We must speak out in authority, knowing we are seated in Him.
We are His vessels, called to speak life, to speak peace, to speak to the storm.

Faith like a mustard seed isn’t silent..
It speaks.
It commands.
It moves.

The question isn’t whether storms will come.
They will.

The question is…
👉 How is your faith?

Are you led by the wind and waves?
Or do you walk in the authority of the One who commands them?

Yesterday, as our church gathered for service, one of the songs our worship team opened with was Counting My Blessings.

As the room filled with voices singing together, united as one, it made me pause and reflect on something deeper. Even when our voices are united, our hearts and our thoughts can still be divided, pulled between God and the things of this world that begin to take His place.

Yesterday’s message reminded us how powerful our thoughts truly are. What we dwell on, what we entertain, what we allow to take root in our hearts and how those things begin to shape the direction of our lives.

Yet so often we get caught up in the noise.
We get caught up in the plans.
We get caught up in the chaos.

And before we even realize it, it becomes consuming.

How much do we simply count our blessings?
What if we paused long enough to thank Him simply for another day?
What if, in the middle of the chaos, we turned our thoughts back toward Him and meditated on His Word?

Sometimes the truth really is simple.

Guard your thoughts.
Count your blessings.
Keep your heart fixed on Him.

God never made it complicated.
We do.

In the parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25), they all had lamps.
They all looked prepared.
But only five carried oil.

The difference wasn’t appearance.
It was intimacy.

Oil can’t be borrowed in the moment when it is convenient for you.
It is gathered in the quiet places; in the unseen hours alone with God.

Today’s worship culture has drifted from the intimacy that was cultivated in the secret place. Congregating together is powerful and necessary, but there is something deeply sacred about worship that exists without the “things.”

No stage.
No sound system.
No curated atmosphere.

Just a heart before Yeshua and the Father.

David didn’t have recordings or worship albums to guide him into the presence of God. He worshiped openly and vulnerably before Yehovah, stripped of performance and full of surrender.

How often do we step into the quiet places where no one else sees - where the Spirit meets us without the help of music, lights, or structure?

Because that is where oil is formed.

In the last days, the question won’t be whether we carried lamps. It will be whether we carried oil.

God is a slow cooker. The enemy is a microwave.

The enemy wants to satisfy you instantly so he can interrupt what God is preparing for your life. While God is still cooking something deep and lasting, the enemy studies your desperation and presents a counterfeit to the blessing God is forming.

It may look good at first. It may even feel like relief. But if you lack the knowledge of God, you will take the first offer because you crave immediate satisfaction. What appears to be provision can actually become a detour that leads you away from the promise God is preparing.

The enemy is slick like that. He knows how to present something that resembles the promise while stripping it of God’s timing and purpose.

There’s a reason patience is a virtue of God.

In Hebrew, the word used for waiting on Yehovah is קָוָה (qavah), which literally means "to bind together like strands of rope being twisted into one cord". While you think you are simply waiting, God is actually strengthening you, weaving your life into His will.

The enemy rushes because his mission has always been simple, to steal, to kill, and to destroy.

He does not need your worship.
He only needs you to accept the counterfeit and step outside of God's will, because the moment you do, the promise begins to unravel.

What God slow-cooks will nourish your life.
What the enemy microwaves will pull you away from the very promise God intended to fulfill.

Why did Christ speak in parables? Because hearing is not just with the ears—it is with the heart.

In this message, we explore how the condition of our heart determines whether we truly receive His word. Some hear but do not understand. Some receive with joy but fall away when trials come. Others allow the cares of this world to choke what was planted. But those whose hearts are good soil receive, understand, and bear fruit.

Scripture reminds us that revelation is given by grace. Eyes that see and ears that hear are a blessing. Christ is always speaking—but only those standing on holy ground, with softened hearts, can truly receive Him.

This sermon is an invitation to examine the soil of your heart.
Are we hardened, distracted, shallow—or ready to receive?

Listen now and step onto holy ground.

In today's sermon, we reflect on the powerful theme of Trust. The Psalms remind us to lean on Yeshua as our refuge and deliverer. Trust is not just a feeling, but a firm foundation—whether we’re facing challenges or emotional turmoil. True trust in Yeshua is steadfast, not swayed by fear or manipulation. Proverbs encourages us to trust fully in Yeshua, acknowledging His wisdom over our own understanding. No matter what circumstances we face, we can stand firm, knowing that God hears us and guides our path.
